Volvo Fun, my '01 V70
Just to continue my running maintenance thread, finished an oil change (ran Seafoam through the crankcase for about 100 miles prior). Used Mobil 1 5W30 picked up from Costco. Replaced the thermostat as well.
I was driving around yesterday and started to get nervous. Other than a needed alignment/balance, the car is running very smoothly. Which got me thinking, every car I've owned had run the best, right before it blew up.

Decided before I did the rear brakes, I'd go ahead and replace the parking brake shoes as well. Car has almost 150k on it and I'm sure never been done. $20 in parts, so why not. Beats pulling off the old rotors and seeing little parking brake shoe bits and pieces. I'm going to paint the hats on the rotor too since I'm not a big fan of the "rust" look after they've been on the car a while. Not sure when I'll actually be getting it done, as I'm getting quite the stockpile of parts.
Ah, maintenance. I want to be doing fun stuff, damnit!

Finally tossed the new pads, rotors (caps painted black), parking brake guts (the parking brakes are drums on the car, so new shoes/springs), new rear end links and I'm all out of my parts stockpile. Now, to figure out what to deal with next. I need rear shocks...so that'll probably be the road I travel next.
This weekend, swapped over some gauges from my brother-in-law's XC90. He had an instrument panel circuit board go bad, so he replaced it. So I scavenged the front panel, gauges, and aluminum trim rings from his old instrument panel and put them in my car, which basically updates it to an 05+ panel. Wee. I think it looks better, and it was free. Eventually, I'll take some pictures of it.

Ordered the ball joints and control arms. Also need to go ahead and order inner/outer tie rods while I'm at it, as those are under $100 total. My plan was to do all of the suspension bits at the same time, but I'm going to wait to do the springs/struts/shocks/sways, as that'll add quite an expense.
With that, I'll finally be installing my S60R downpipe, and a few other bits laying around.
Stupid high mileage cars. I don't wanna be rebuilding the front end, I wanna do fun stuff!
