Yeah I want dual wastegates, probably the smaller size, around 38mm or so. I don't need any bigger than that. Other than that it might be the same as what you guys want. Since my turbo is longer I might need to move it back some though, so I'm wondering about options on doing really short runners. I'm not sure if the runners can just come straight up and out and the turbo placed there, if the exhaust will have enough room between the back of the turbo and the firewall. Or maybe just forward of that would work too. I've been thinking about moving it back like that, and then also wondering if it can be down some too.

Eduardo, do you have a pic of your current manifold?

Even after all this turbo, manifold and DP business, I still have to get the IC core, get some end tanks fabbed for them and get piping for all that. And even after that, cut the hole in the hood for the VMIC and duct it all. LOL

Not sure that it matters, but here is a link to an FC vert I did a turbo conversion to with a W/A intercooler. Fabbed the entire setup, manifold, i/c, piping (what there is of it), dp, etc.

yes the manifold is the ebay stainless steel one. I do have pics of where the turbo sits. So you guys have an idea, i'll like to keep the turbo in the same place because I don't want to redo the intercooler piping, also the I dont have to get a new downpipe. here is a few pics

This is how big the turbo is

Yeah your manifold is the same as mine. Looks like you would benefit from the "spacer" I'm running, too. When we get the manifolds made they can just make the runners a 1/2" longer to act as the spacer.

A 1/2" higher shouldn't change your downpipe or charge piping fitment, either.

Looks like your turbo sits pretty low already. I like that though, why move it up?

I'd love to move mine back some too, but unless I mount it super low I'm not sure if I could move it back and not have the dp hitting the wirewall or tranny tunnel. And I'd also have to think about the heat from the turbine housing being right next to the ABS. I'd just have to shield the crap out of it I guess lol. I just can't wait to get home and see this turbo, then I can finally start making some plans.

I thought about doing the swap to a brake balancer but I don't really want to mess with it, and the kit that is sold not only takes forever to get, but they put the balancer right next to the intake elbow and you have to take out the studs and use bolts to mount the elbow just to get it off. I'm not doing all that LOL. If my ABS fails at some point, I may think about it haha.

I agree having ABS makes it a little less of a "drivers car", but in a car this lightweight, ABS a HUGE advantage. Without getting this thread too far off track, 99% of people benefit from ABS, especially on the street in less than ideal conditions. On a dedicated race car, sure, ditch the ABS, but why on the street? All it takes in one grocery toting mom to pull out in front you and you lock up tire and slide into her SUV to make you think twice...

Anyways...the only reason I mention raising the turbo, Eric, is because the previous owner of my kit said a 1/2" spacer as required or the compressor housing would hit the frame. I'm just going off what he said. Maybe he has a different motor mount setup? I don't know. But it looks like Eduardo's compressor housing is close to the frame as well, and a spacer would make it easier to fit. Really, we're talking about a half inch here, not going to make a difference in spool time or anything by making the runners a 1/2" longer.

That's one reason I don't want to ditch ABS. I'm afraid for the first several times I drive the car and forget I don't have it anymore and don't pump the brakes lol.

No I was just curious. That sounds plausible actually, since the firewall of the car sticks out more down lower, aside from where the strut tower is. Hmmm, that's something to think about now.

So I like the JDM Fantasy's guys manifolds, but this doesn't sound good:

Apparently some fitment problems and long, long wait time coupled with a lack of communication.

Got em, I like this possible direction.

Haha I'm game to try it. I have a MIG but it's currently only setup for flux core so I can't weld thicker gauge metals although I probably could do a manifold. My welds aren't pretty tho, haha.

That's what exhaust wrap is for LOL.

I've been thinking about this though. I'd like to ceramic coat the new manifold and DP too, but some of these places make such beautiful art work, I don't want to cover it up.

I made a set of pipes for my motorcycle, and while the welds weren't pretty, they were strong. So I heat wrapped the hell out of it and it's still been going strong 4 years later, no cracks and the welds are still good haha.
