Rare - early Mazda Rx-7 for sale

Postby G-Man » Tue Oct 25, 2011 9:14

I'm finally ready to part with my silver 1979 (actually manufactured March, 1978) Rx-7 up for sale.
You can see the ad on Craigslist here:
http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/2668149885.html

And here is some information:
For Sale - a rare, very early model Mazda Rx-7. Model year 1979, actual manufacture date of March, 1978.
Silver exterior, black interior.
Five-speed, vinyl interior, cheese-grater mag wheels. No sunroof.

Remarkably fine condition! Body is excellent - small dent in left front fender, tiny bit of rust.
Interior - works fine, vinyl seat bottoms need some love, easily restorable.

Shows 35K on odometer - probably 135K. 5-speed.

Engine probably shot. Will not pass emissions as is! (Sold as not meeting emissions.) This is a 12A rotary motor. Starts, but smokes a ton for the first several minutes. Fine to drive home, but not ready to be a daily driver.

This is a perfect candidate to create an electric car! Lightweight, still good-looking, reliable, parts still readily available, great handling. You could also put in anything from a 13B to a big V8 (although it might be a crime to molest such a great condition, early car).

Many spares come with the car, including one complete and nearly a complete second spare motors (disassembled and easily inspectable, condition unknown). Spare seats, other stuff.

Car had a bunch of junk in it when I took the photos, but I'll clean it out nicely.

I love these cars but can no longer store this and don't have time to restore it. Would love to find a good home for it. Please email with questions or to come see it. Delivery on a trailer, with spares, can be arranged (especially for a full-price offer!)
Reminder: This car is sold as "will not meet emissions."
Thank you

Hi Folks,
Life's changed and I need to sell some Rx-7 stuff. Still keeping the race car, (unless someone really wants it) but I've got a new job, life's getting nuts, and I would very much like to find new good homes for my two Rx-7s and a bunch of spares that include a bunch of high-performance motor parts, seats, etc.

So, I'm bumping this and about to post about the white car and the engine parts. If you or anyone you know has interest, please contact me. I would really like to find good homes for these cars.

I've got a trailer and can deliver these cars and parts, too. (White car is fully registered and driveable.)
Thank you,
G-Man

Anybody got ANY interest in this?
Please don't let it go to the crusher!
It's yours for the price of a nice dinner for my friend and his wife who have stored it for six months! (Seriously...!)

If it's that cheap, I'll pick it up when I get home in a few weeks LOL. I don't like to see good cars getting crushed, especially rare ones. I have this drive to save every RX-7 I see haha. I have a vehicle with which to tow it, but I have to install my tow hitch when I first get back, and I don't have a trailer so I might need to borrow that LOL. Do you still have the spare engines too or did you get rid of those? And which car is it? The silver one in the pics or the white one?

Funny, I had actually given thought to trying to acquire a rotary Mazda... too bad I have nowhere to put it or I'd jump on it.:(
