My new Rx7 R1
Mines missing that view port plate on the tranny as well.
Long thread, but its all you need to know about rx7's and oil. I run valvoline VR-1 race oil, sale on it at autozone on powers now for 3 a quart.

good read about valvoline VR-1 race oils

long reads condensed. ZDDP is important and new laws are removing it from most non race/specialty oils. 20w50 VR-1 is the best balance of price + quality ive found

I know of only one or two different aftermarket knock sensor systems, but not many people run them. You'll probably be alright waiting on that if you wanna get one later, as long as you have a good tune. I never even planned on getting one lol.

A different knock sensor will be pretty useless with the PowerFC. It does very little with knock retard based timing as it is. And there aren't many aftermarket knock sensors the PFC will read.
I know it's a bit weird, but most rotary tuning, as opposed to piston tuning, does not rely on a knock sensor. The biggest reason for this is you can't rely on a knock sensor with a rotary because all it takes is one major knock event to kill a rotary. You can't really tune for counts of knock then back it off, or it could cost you a motor.
