The reflash will definitely make you lose power. I already had the "stuck solenoid" problem, had it fixed, so I'm not taking it in for that. As for the octane flash, it just makes sense. The Mazdaspeed # ECUs came from the factory set to run on 93 octane. The reflash to 91 octane means the car is going to be pulling timing to prevent engine knock. Pulled timing = less cylinder pressure at combustion, and thus less power produced.

I haven't had this recall done to my car yet and now hearing about the power loss will probably not take it in. I can say one thing that I left my car in the garage for a whole week without starting it (due to snow packed cul de sac where I live), and when I did go to start it it stalled a couple times until idle was at 750 RPMs. My garage is seperate from my condo so its like a fridge when its cold out so that could be a factor also...

Has anyone seen the 'Discount Tires Commercial' that says "if you're not satisfied with one of our tires, please feel free to bring it back" and the old lady tosses a tire through their window? Well, that's what I wanted to do with my Speed6 after that recall... <_< ...DID YA HEAR THAT MAZDA...HUH!!!
