Invitation to an invitational Auto-X event

Postby ecam8000 » Mon May 21, 2012 9:14

http://www.rmsolo.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11624

May 26th & 27th

The RMSolo group is hosting and invitational event this Sat & Sunday. SCCA members are $15 per day, non SCCA are $20. Run one or both days. Lots of runs, no score, no points, no classes. There will be a time board at the end of the track to keep track of your own times. This will be a low pressure event for practice and bragging rights. Just come out and have fun. Many, many runs. Planning on 4 heats. You will have to work one heat to be a driver. You will drive one, work one and have two to go for rides or take pictures or rest. Just show up and register!

If you ever wanted to give autocross a try...
If you wished autocross had more than 4 runs in a day...
If you hoped for a no pressure event....
If you car wasn't competitive in a "Class"...
If you wanted to drive more than one car at an event...

THIS IS YOUR EVENT! And you have been invited!

excellent! Hoping my wife and I can make it. If so, maybe your daughter can take my wife for a spin in my car then give her some tips for driving.

Looks weird in writing.

Amanda LOVES to introduce people to the sport, especially the women-folk. She can have multiple rides, and even drive if she feels comfortable. That is the beauty of this kind of event, car/driver swapping. Gives you a chance to drive something different. We are planning to bring the BMW down as well as the Miata.

Nice. I thought you said Amanda liked the 3, so this would be a good time for her to see how she likes it in that environment as a driver. I'd definately be curious about driving a miata (and an FSP Civic). Plan to have the wife drive as much as possible too.

I'm hoping we'll see you guys there.

Thanks for al lthe help you and your family has been thus far Eric!

Have a freind coming down to drive. Should be fun. Maybe he'll sell his CRV afterward and get a different car so he can drive his own.

Not going to be able to make this after all. Going to HPR for NASA Hyperdrive to get a few laps in with an instructor before our club day in a few weeks.

Ecam, after looking at the registration times, it sounds like I could show up around 10/11ish and still be able to participate?

I think that is correct. The contact for the event is Lindsay. I doubt we'll turn any one away, that is the point of this event.

I just re-read the link. Registration and tech from 7/8 AM till 2 PM.

My hunch is we'll run heat one (4-5 runs) while heat three drivers are on the course resetting cones. Then 2 drives while 4 shags - then 3-1 and 4-2.
Alter the course and do it again and again. In your off times you ride with others or rest, eat, repair or whatever. If the turn out is 40 cars that is 10 per heat. Those heats will go fast!

I'll guess there are many more from BMW, Porcshe, Corvette and the other clubs that have been contacted. How many will show is just a guess. Below is a copy/paste from the link that was posted this morning:

the PPIR Invitational is ON!

So BE THERE

Got 29 RSVPs and 7 tentative so we are good to go!

Didn't RSVP yet, no problem.
There is NO Cut off time for this event.
If you wake up Saturday morning with a sudden need to Solo,
NO PROBLEM, come on out to PPIR and join us.

Linday has requested that if you think you are going to attend please RSVP. Even if you decide to cancel you might drop him a note. He also said if you wake up and decide to attend, that is OK too.

Copy/paste (again):

Please ask them to RSVP to me at;

lswilson9 AT gmail DOT com

Just to help with my planning.
