Advancing timing

On my 6i, there was a free lil mod that you could do to advance the timing +1 or +2 degrees by loosening 2 bolts under the passenger front of the engine, move the black bracket down, and the timing is advanced. I know that may be a bit generalized, but those of you who have done it know what im talking about. Does anybody know if this can be done to the speeds? Wanted to know before jacking up the car myself and giving it a try

I did it on both the 3 and 5... they both are a bit spunkier off of the line- MPG on the 5 went up, the 3 went down... d'oh! It's an easy mod- yes Guido, you can do it. If you don't like it, it can be easily reversed...
i thought the results with this mod were inconclusive...in regards to enhancing performance....I opted to not do this as I didn't think it would
be worth the effort.[/b]

At high altitude we can get away with a couple extra degrees of timing advance on a normally aspirated engine. Once you add the turbo, you're playing with fire....literally. And Josh , I KNOW that was a funny about just going until the knock light...LOL!

I did it on my 6i as well. Easy to do, and never noticed anything different, to be honest, but I left it.
