I'm debating on whether to get the RPM Street springs or start the carputer setup. Price is about the same, depending on how much Mile High Sound Design quotes me for an extra power adapter and laptop mounting. I doubt I could do the spring install myself, so installation would make either project about even. Any input/suggestions appreciated. Thanks :D

+1 on the springs.

Buy yourself a nice $50 atlas and keep it in the car. Keep the numbers for free information programmed into your cell phone to find resturants when you need it.

Carputer. With a good EMS and the PC you'll be able to adjust maps, read OBDII & CAN, just about anything coming from your ECU so you'll know what's going on with your car at all times.

Well I have stock Navigation, with built in POIs and phone numbers. The carputer setup is more for street tuning the CP-E Standback, plus 120GB storage of movies, music, etc. all accessible right there with a wireless keyboard. Hotspot internet access, even a 3G data card for internet wherever I have cell phone coverage.

The springs are very tempting. I'm worried about install though....If I do it myself, will I need a spring compressor?

Mostly likely you will need a spring compressor. Give Autozone a few bucks and they will loan you theirs. When you bring it back, you get your money back. Spring compressors aren't difficult or scary to deal with.

I've offered my garage to do lots of other people's suspension projects. If you want to tackle it yourself, come on over.

Sounds good Tom. I'd like to see what Eric says about springs on the Speed6, as I know he has the Mazdaspeed ones and likely installed them himself. Right now, I'm leaning towards springs. I just cringe when I launch and my front end rises a good 6 or 8 inches....all that lost power going to the rear springs.

That's a tough one... but I would probably go with springs.... only because I know the excess body roll in my MS6 drove me crazy lol. If you already had wideband & EGT gauges, and were planning on tuning the car yourself on the street, I would go with carputer, but aren't you going to have Revolution's tune your car? If so, when?

Yes, RP will be tuning it....after I'm done with the immediate bolt-ons I wanna do: PG turbo mani, ETS IC, and maybe a water/meth kit. I think I'll be doing the RPM Springs right now.

Happy to help you install them. I've done my fair share of suspension swaps/upgrades. Coil-overs, springs, you name it, done it. I hate the spring compressors. They’re like a wound up bomb ready to blow, well kinda ;-)

I can lend a hand or garage, whatever.
