HPR opens end of March!
High Plains Raceway is opening at the end of March. I'm wondering if the club has any plans to set up a monthly meet or track day? I'd be interested for sure, and I think many others would be as well. So mods, what say you?

There are several "open lapping days" on the schedule- mostly on Friday from what I've seen. That would be the way to go. Trying to rent out then entire track for CMZC would be next to impossible.

This is what was posted on one of our VW/Audi Sites regarding this, as one of our groups also plans on renting the track as well, and yes. It is really expensive. Now I understand this would be just for a day unlike ours which is a weekend, but you get the idea of the costs mentioned.
IMO, TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT.

Please, don't gripe on the price; if you're not wanting to pay, you're not in. Simple as that.

From my email correspondance:
"Hi Erik
First, I apologize for the delay in my response, I misfiled your email in a folder for items that already replied to.
To answer your questions - the November 7/8 weekend is currently still available, thought I have another party who is interested but has not committed. The cost of a weekend day in November will be $4500 per day, plus $10 per car that enters the track. This is a discounted November rate, prices from November through March vary by Month. we will require $5 million in liability insurance for any exclusive rentals. Ambulance presence will not be required, but is STRONGLY recommended. If desired, HPR can quote a price to provide either insurance or ambulance service.
We are currently putting the final touches on the contracts and other details. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks!

Yes! I'm excited for this. I'll be driving at the NASA event in April. Speaking of NASA, if we want to get an open track day going, it may be a good idea to try and work something through them, so they can provide insurance and such. However they are a for-profit organization so I'm not sure they would help out unless there was at least some money to be made. And yeah, it's really expensive...that's DISCOUNTED too. Looking at that price, we would have to get at least 30 people to make it affordable. ($150.) If we're going to do a track day, I'd much rather rent PMP honestly, just to keep the cost down.

Given that there is going to be fairly little interest in this from this forum, just arranging to meet there on a previously scheduled open lapping day is the way to go. $150 for a full day or $90 for a half day. Sure we'd be sharing the track with other people/cars, but so what.
