Hey.. a little help here.. I picked up a used 20 GB for $50 off CL. Kid had two light RROD which I fixed, only to find that the ethernet jack is borked, as far as I can tell. Changed cables and changed ports on the router. Behavior is the link light on the router lights up and blinks, rather rapidly (didn't bother to see if the ethernet jack had lights), but when I do a network test, it never connects to the local network. I tried DHCP and static, and neither works.
I've got an offer from a guy here in town to swap out the port from a parts box he's got.. but wanted to put it to the hivemind before I went through with it.
I'm trying really hard to avoid the M$ wireless adapter, as the 360 is barely 6 feet from the router, and I'd feel like a tool to have to go wireless over that distance.
I even offered to pay to swap boxes with someone with a working ethernet jack, but nobody's taken me up on that offer.
