Black Halo Racing on rx8club has good prices on the plugs. $80 shipped for all 4, if I remember correctly. Quick on the shipping too. I know they are over $100 at most dealers. I think Atkins Rotary also sells them for $80.

August 15th it is. Once we get close, I'll PM folks my address.

I wasn't at that initial meet. I picked up my 8 used in 2007. I understand what you mean about that bundle of joy. I have twins on the way!

You can get the plugs from the top, if you have skinny little midget arms (sorry if I offended any midgets....), very long skinny midget arms.

The space is VERY tight. It's easiest with the drivers side wheel off OR from the bottom. The only problem is on the front housing the motor mount bracket is slightly in the way to from the bottom can be difficult.

And the 15th sounds good for an RX-8 meet! I can be there.

As for the plugs, the only ones worth getting are the Mazda approved NGK set, you can get them in a complete box set (2 leading, 2 trailing) from Mazdatrix for like $150. I know it's pricey but you can't really use anything else without changing heat ranges which could get you misfires.

The old owner of Rotary RX in New Mexico now lives here in Colorado! And he was thinking of starting a shop! For now, just side jobs.

I was under the impression that the plugs BHR and Atkins had available were the NGK Mazda plugs.

I know I don't drive an rx-8 but I've bought plugs for my car from Mazdatrix and the same plugs are sold at Checker for the same price. But my plugs are about $30 for the set, lol.

Just look to see if the other plugs have the same plug number and you will know for sure.

Anyone Else Need a Set of Plugs for 8/15 meet?

Postby BruceInColorado » Fri Jul 31, 2009 9:14

Black Halo Racing can get me 2 sets of 2-each RE7CL (leading) and RE9BT (trailing) plugs, for $154 total ($77 each) or $83 for one set.

Before ordering just the one set of plugs for myself, I wondered if anyone else needed a set for our 8/15 meetup?

Let me know asap, otherwise I'll just order the one set this weekend.

So, Huzer, do we have any more updates on this? Is anything going down on the 15th? My girlfriend is running a 5K in Westminster on that day so I can take the 8 down, watch her race, and then will catch a ride back up with friends and I can stay and come over to to this 8 mod meet/spark plug swap fun.

Speaking of which, he is actually helping me with my car right now. He is VERY knowledgeable and I'm sure he'd be willing to help out on an RX-8.

I'm still planning on being there... Got the new plugs from BlackHalo, so I'm ready to go. Of course, this all depends on Huzer!:D
