If you print the plate or get one of those fiberglass replica plates, I wouldn't mount it to the front bumper- just put it on the dash on the windshield. That way they can't touch it and find out that it's not a real metal plate.

Has anyone ever been hassled for having their front plate up there?

Here's another idea to thwart the parking nazis- get a real front plate (doesn't have to necessarily be YOUR front plate) and put it in the dash. Are they really going to compare the front plate to the back to make sure they match? Only do this for parking on the street though- toss it in the glove box or under the seat when driving.

I've got a ton of plates (used to work at a dealership). If you want one, PM me and the next time you're in HR, you can have it. Or swing by a dealership up there (or call) and say you collect plates and see if you can have any. People trade in cars all the time and leave their plates on their old car.

For the parking Nazis having your plate or a made-up plate on the dash will not make a difference. They will make excuses like I couldn't see it cause of the glare... or its on the passanger side and I didn't look that far..... or, it's not in the proper position.

Since I've had the car I've ran no front plate. Lakewood and Denver cops have pulled me over numerous times and have never once written me a ticket or writen me a warning for it. Heck they didn't even write me up for anything. Just have a good night. They have told me that it should be mounted on the front but that it does not bother them at all.

I've gotten ticketed for it 3-4 times in six years and each time it was parking nazis. Twice in front of my house and once downtown.

The best solution I can think of is this..... Behind the "mustache" on the bumper is mount some magnets then mount some no the LP. Every time you park on the street throw it on. I'm considerig doing this on mine. But not anytime soon. I haven't had LP on my dash since the KBPI show in July. I've driven next to many police officers and have not gotten hassled. Not even for my loud backfires and flames shooting out the back.

Here's an example kinda of what I mean. The red wuold be the magnets. Only thing you'd need to work out is how to mount the magnets and magnets that are strong enough to hold through the plastic. Or maybe you can make some sort of bracket for the license plate so you can slide it between the mustache and the bumper or slide it in the Grill opening and it will sit there. Only use it when you are parked of course then whe you drive away throw it in the back.

That's a good idea Jimmy... Another way could be to use 2 carabiner clips and just 'clip' it on to the front honeycomb plastic.. My friend has a Mazda5 and after he got a ticket for no front plate, he just hooked it on with 2 paper-clips, pretty ghetto but with carabiner's it'd be easy to put on take off...

Wow some absolutely terrific ideas guys! I was just going to spend the $80 on the cp-e tow plate but not anymore! You guys have just saved me $80 and countless tickets! I am first going to go with the carabiner idea as it's the quickest and simplest solution. But, i am also going to start trying to piece together Jimmy's magnet idea which is fing brilliant and even quicker to put on and off the plate. I think i might have to take the bumper off for that one hence the carabiner idea being put into use once i get the plate.

Thanks very much guys for the ideas! They are brilliant! :)
