Which one to get?
Ya thats what Im thinking to,, cars do run better on cold air... Damn it Im at a lose LOL.. maybe I'll just get this cheap kit and get a good filter for it and see how it works,, or just save up an extra $150 and get the MazdaSpeed CAI... Im kinda low on funds now cause I just got some headrest monitors so I have that project to tackle first then will do this mod..

Memphis the difference in Air from the well to the bay is not that much of a difference. As for the CELs if it happens just take it off :P its cheap enough to just resell it or toss it.

This topic has been covered sooo many times on the Mazda6Club.com forums but...
The CAI is the way to go. It's Dyno proven that you will make more with it than the SRI. The SRI, however, will be nice if you want the throttle response. But as for overall power, a CAI is going to give you more. The filter on a CAI sits below the engine bay in the front bumper where it sucks in cooler air as it comes into the bumper in various places. That doesn't make that much of a difference in the winter but you will definately notice it during the summer. A lot of people talk about "waterlocking" the CAI since it's so low to the ground. This will ONLY happen if you manage to submerge the filter COMPLETELY under water. So by driving into either A) a lake or hitting
a giant ass puddle that no sane person would drive through, would waterlock it. A SRI is sitting directly under the hood where major "heatsoaking" issues may occur. This will rob you engine of power and make the SRI worthless. But as a fellow CAI owner, go with the CAI, you'll be a lot happier. Especially if you're running an ATX 6i.
Regards,
John
EDIT: DON'T GO CHEAP EITHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AEM OR MAZDASPEED FTW

Ya I know its been covered over in the other forum,, I saw your post with you arguing with BUSINESS and the other guy LOL.. but ya, Im more leaning towards the CAI than anything.. but now Im just curious if the cheaper ones will work the same as the more expensive ones.. I mean, its just a freaking tube and as long as theres a good filter on the end of it, then shouldnt ti be just as good as a more expensive kit?

Why don't you just unplug the battery like the directions state to do so once you hook everything up and reconnect the battery everything resets itself automatically and it never goes on in the first place?
Chek above for CEL answer. Post 18[/b]

Not really. In today's world you get what you pay for. I've seen numerous people take the cheap road out there and end up throwing CEL like it was going out of style. Just stick with a name brand product and you'll be set.
But yea, Business is just stupid.

Not for me. It went off after turning the car on and off 3 times.

Did you unhook the battery before you even began ripping the stock airbox out? Cause it shouldn't come on once you put everything in and then reconnect the battery. But if it took three times that means that it wasn't something important. In you owners manual it says that if you throw a CEL randomly then after 3 successful restarts it will clear itself if it's not a huge problem.

Sure did. Any time I bother anything in the car that has anything with wires going to or from it I unhook the Bat.

The MazdaSpeed intake is the exact same as the AEM one. They're identical, except for the name.

That's weird. I never got one when I did mine. What intake you running?
EDIT: Stupid question, I just read your signature.
Then maybe I'll just save up a lil longer and just get the MSCAI that I was planning on getting this whole time..[/b]
