Aw, that's a bit unfair. Has anyone here been to traffic court? Apparently I was "flashing my lights" and "swerving" while "harrassing" someone on Woodmen and they called the Sheriff. They arrested my friend and I (yes, arrested with no proof, although I guess probable cause). Now we have court dates for November 6th to apparently get our sentence - an 8 point Reckless driving ticket.

I'm not sure how it all worked, but to put it in perspective I was in a car crash a year an a half ago that totaled my car - and it was a 4 point careless driving. I'm not sure how the cops not seeing anything doubles that. I'm pretty sure it was because I'm a teenager :(

I've been to traffic court in Grand Juntion. Basically you go in and when it gets to you they will probably have you set up a time to meet with the DA because of the amount of points. You will then meet with the DA and deside what you will end up with.

The thing is I struggle to find what I actually did wrong. I admitted to speeding to get ahead of the guy then I slowed down because he was going to fast (I don't speed too much after my wreck). That alone can't possibly be worth 8 pts. And doesn't the cop have to show up at the date to make anything happen? Plus, combined with my 4 before, that's 12 pts. Idk if I got more when I turned 18 or what, but that's close to license-losing range. I don't want to get anything. The whole thing is pretty ridiculous.

The cop doesn't show unless you don't take the bargan the DA gives you and opt to go back to court a second time.

Well I assume the cop has to see something, right? Or have some sort of proof besides some guy calling? It's all been a little unnerving due to the fact that I didn't do anything. The cops where insanely unprofessional as well.

IMO, regardless if you did it or not. NEVER ADMIT TO ANYTHING! They can't do anything without proof, they would've had to get multiple witnesses to make a case. I know cause I've been in a similar situation, difference is we totally fucked with this guy!!! And to be fair we probably deserved to get in trouble. The cops showed up, made us go to court, but never did anything cause they couldn't prove it. Good luck tho!

Idk how they could prove anything. All that happened was the guy called the sheriff on the phone and told him we were doing stuff and then he followed us to get our license plates. What kind of proof would they need? I don't think the phone call of one guy and my admission of speeding (I wastrying to cooperate. I was freaked out.) is enough to convict me of reckless driving.

Sounds like a bunch of BS to me man. I mean, theoretically it sounds like a good idea. But all it takes is some asshole that wants to get back at someone simply because they passed them or whatever...that makes the whole thing break down. Good luck with that.

They didn't have any proof and most likely couldn't have done anything to you... until you admitted that you were speeding, which may mean to them that the rest of the story was probable. I've been reported to CSP about 5 times in the last 3.5 years I've been commuting to Denver. All they do is put it in a file and send you a letter telling you that you should knock it off because if a cop sees you you'll get in trouble, but they can't do anything based solely off another driver's claim.

If anyone is wondering, the few times I have been reported have all been idiots that are doing 60-65 in the left lane and get mad when I go around them on the right doing 75 and then claim I am "speeding" and cutting them off or some other bullshit.

So back to the meet that is suposed to be tonight. I'm thinking we should skip it this week. I plan to stay home and start a fire in the fireplace.

That's exactly what I mean, just some idiot that gets pissed at you for doing nothing and calls in a bogus claim.

Well, depending on the weather I might show, but it will only be for a little bit since I have a b'day party to be to by 8pm. And that's only if the weather is good.

I'm not going to make it. Still can't get that annoying low coolant buzzer to shut off. And yes, I've checked the coolant level!

Thanks! It'll be good to have you back. Too bad it's in the bad weather though, probably won't be doing too many cruises haha.

Have you checked the coolant lev...oh. LOL

Alright, looks like it might be just me, depending on the weather. If no one else is going I probably won't either though. Although I did tell John the other night at Chik-fil-a that we'd be there. Hmmm, dilemma.
