Yep Cobb access port on a speed [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif[/img] Supposedly by / near end of 1st quarter they will have it out. Asked them about the upgraded fuel pump that just came out and if it will be needed.... They said absolutely not. Said no reason for it at all and it would be a waste. They currently have 80 different area's of the ECU they can tune and can always add more as well. And the biggest thing they said, was there is no fuel cut issues with their system. If there was at one point you can tune it out and never get it.

Did you telll them to get their ass in gear about the speed6 accessport? If they got the speed3, then the speed6 shouldn't be too much more work.

I hope you're right about their release time, but I will remind you, I talked to them when I first bought my Speed6.... at that time, they told me they would be releasing the Accessport for the Speed6 way back in November of 2006.... later on they (by "they" I mean Trey, Christian, Hunter ect, I've spoken to several of their employees) told me that they would be releasing the AP for the RX-8 & Speed3 this past summer, and that shortly after that the Speed6 AP would follow... still no AP.... this has been going on for well over a year.
Don't get me wrong, they're a great bunch of guys, and they make outstanding products, always top notch, but they take FOREVER to get them on the market... back when I had my WRX, they were talking about making a SRI for it, that's right a simple SRI, and it took them almost a year and a half to release it. Back in the day, they used to just be a Subaru Impreza/WRX/STI tuner company, for the longest time that's all they tuned.... then they started making parts & AP's for the Subaru Legacy's, Forester's & Outback's.... with their success & popularity of the Accessport, they figured they could do the same for the other popular "tuner cars", and have been working on AP's for the following vehicles:
-Mitsubishi EVO
-Nissan 350Z
-Infinity G35 (basically same as 350Z)
-Mazda RX-8
-Mazdaspeed 3
-Mazdaspeed 6
^^^Now keep in mind, they're not that big of a company, and not too long before, they released the Accessport V2 for all Subaru's, which has some MAJOR improvements over the AP V1's. Now after they got done working all the bugs out of the V2 Subaru AP's, they next went on to working on the AP for the EVO. Since that's now been launched, this is just a guess, but since their engineers can now devote time to another platform, I would only assume the 350Z would be next, as there's a lot more Z owners than there are Speed owners. Now I might be wrong on that, only because they actually own a Speed3, but either way, don't count on any release dates from them.
With all that said, they do make outstanding quality products! I also think flash-based tuning is the way to go, as instead of manipulating sensors, you can actually reprogram the damn ECU, which would get rid of a lot of the kinks people are running into. On Subaru & EVO based flash tuning, you can get rid of fuel cut altogether, set your own timing and knock parameters, and typically have far more area for correction & fuel tuning. I think it's the way to go.... as a matter of fact, I'll be using flash based tuning on my STI, although I haven't decided if I want an Accessport or if I want to buy another laptop and use Enginuity based software (which is free! Well, almost, it requires a $80 Tactrix cable, but the software is free).
Something else to keep in mind though, just because they release an AP at a certain time, doesn't mean you'll be able to tune your car with it.... that's right, in order to actually tune your car you'll need them to release either Protuner or Streettuner software... which can take some time after a release. I'm not sure if they sell ST software much anymore, but if you want a professional tuner to tune your car, they'll have to be Protuner licensed, and have the software to tune your car. Typically, most Subaru shops that are Protune licensed charge around $350 to tune your AP for your car, regardless of the time it takes to tune the car. Yet another stumbling block of money you'll have to shell out.
The AP is a great device, and I'm sure even with Cobb's base maps that will come with the AP, people will be making a good bit more power. Just don't hold your breath on it being released. Also, don't assume even if you have the software, that tuning with a flash based device is as simple as a piggyback device. Unless you're very capable, leave tuning to the pros.
