Must.... have.... impressions.... we should really have a mountain drive meet, maybe a quick spin up to Lookout Mountain?!? The RX-8 isn't exactly at home on the drag strip, but it sure as hell has the power to surprise when roads get twistie.
Couple questions man, what kind of tires are you running? Are you going to attempt driving the RX-8 this winter? Also, what was the diameter of the stock bars and what's the diameter of the RB bars?[/b]
I plan on going for a drive either today or tomorrow AM. Initial impressions, and this isn't at any type of speed or anything, is that the car definitely doesn't roll through the turns as much as it used to. Granted, the RX-8 doesn't roll much to begin with, but these bars come close to eliminating that. The front bar is very hefty, 32mm, and a .1875" wall vs 27mm and a .134" wall. The rear is 19mm vs 16mm diameter, and is a straight bar, the stock bar has a couple of angles in it. I snapped some pictures that I haven't uploaded yet.
I tried to get decent speed on my off ramp, only to have to scrub off some speed quickly when an oversized delivery truck was lumbering around the corner. I thought I had enough room, but they were only going about 20. Steering input seems slightly sharper, and the car overall just stays planted. Very pleased with the results. The RX-8 handles great to start with, so this just added to that.
Tires are Fuzion ZR1 235/40/18s. They seem ok, nothing special. I'll probably drive it on a limited basis in the winter. I can walk to work, so I won't need it for that. My plan at this point is to drive as little as possible, which won't be hard as I've only put on 900 miles since I bought the car. I'm definitely game for a mountain drive.
