Thinking about selling my 94 VR

Postby Ryan95 » Fri Aug 10, 2012 9:14

Copy of the RX7club post.

Been tossing the idea of selling for a little while, and figure I'd give it a listing and see what the interest is. This is something like my 15th FD, and 30th rotary but is the only one I've kept for longer than a year. I simply don't get to enjoy it enough, and have other opportunities that I could go after now. I've never tracked it, this has truly been a garage queen/weekend cruiser. Since I've owned it it's seen light rain once because I couldn't get it in the garage quickly enough.

I have almost every stock part for the car, with the exception of the stock downpipe, and the ECU.

The car is a 94 VR PEP model.
~77k miles, I'll get the exact mileage when I get more pics up after the thread is approved.

Tan seats were pulled (but are included, in great shape) and swapped with JDM black cloth seats, and a JDM black back seat. This was a FULL conversion, side panels, seat belts, even the little bolt covers for the seat belts. Only thing I didn't swap was the rear carpet, I have the non touring carpet and it covers everything just fine.

R1 front lip in like new condition.
R1 strut bar
Fluidyne radiator
Greddy SMIC with greddy elbow.
RX7store downpipe.
Bonez high flow cat
RSR single tip cat-back. (These guys made Racing Beat's cat backs for a long time, this is essentially the same as the Racing Beat single tip) Fantastic sound, same sound level to the racing beat. Very awesome exhaust.
RE Amemiya intake. Old school style, I bought it because it was one of the first intakes available for the FD to try to keep everything correct for the period.
M2 stage 3 ECU tuned for 13psi.
Pettit style polished AST
99 Style steering wheel (came out of a Miata) with cruise control that actually works :)
Converted 99 style tails.
DEFI boost gauage in a steering column pod.
Almost new redline boots for the shifter and brake.
99 spec armrest.

There may be a couple minor things I'm forgetting, but this is a pretty solid list.

About the car:
Everything works, from the cruise to the antenna, every bulb etc...

Mechanically it's in very good shape. Drives fantastically, pulls hard, turbos spool right up. Starts up easy and quickly. Idles perfect, doesn't make any wrong noises.
Engine starts right up every time on the first crank, vacuum is a little low, but I'm also at 6500ft which will show low, piston compression tester showed 6 very even pulses. 3k hesitation sometimes.

I took it on a 150 mile trip last week in 97 degree temperatures and the car never put a foot wrong.
AC is the coldest thing on the planet. Seriously, I can't keep it on all the way cold, and the ball vent literally will freeze your nuts off.

The secondary turbo leaks a bit of oil, a couple drops a day it seems. I have a replacement set that I bought locally with VERY low miles. Haven't had a chance to install them, depending on when it goes, they either will be on the car or included. Right now they're converted for non-sequential, so depending on what we do, I can do that or convert them back.
Transmission shifts well and doesn't make any bad noises. A little notchy going into 2nd when it's cold, but never grinding.

Car blows no smoke, and aside from a rotary that runs rich, doesn't stink or make any wrong smells. Passed the CO sniffer test last year, but they failed me for the visual because of the downpipe, EPA guy was a dick about it, so it's registered in a non emission county :D

Tires are in good shape and grip very well.

Paint is in very good shape. At some point a couple of the panels were repainted. The previous owner knew the 1st owner and said it was a factory warranty repaint. Not everything was repainted, and I've never seen any evidence that the car has been in any type of accident.
Car has always been covered since I've owned it, as well as the previous owner. Custom car cover is included and is of high quality.
The paint is very good for the most part, there's a clear run on the passenger door gap, and a minor defect behind the driver's window where it looks like the car took an egg.

There are a couple very minor dings, that will be professionally repaired if my asking price is met.
For the most part the paint is very swirl free. I used to detail cars on the side, and take VERY good care of my cars, this car is absolutely a head turner, nobody can believe that the car is a 94. Washed and waxed with Optimum products since I've owned it.

Interior is in great shape, j-spec seats were modified to slide all the way back like the US ones. Non smoker car, aside from the seat belt strap on the passanger side, seats are very good. Rear leather seat is starting to separate at the seams in a couple of spots, someone handy with a needle and thread could probably make it like new in a few minutes. It was a full conversion, down to the rear hatch cover. Has polk speakers in the back, but the crappy deck can't power them and it doesn't sound very good :o

Sunroof works great, no tears in the headliner, pillars, door panels are in great shape. Stock map pocket and DIN pocket are there and like new. Passenger door handle is in tact. Windows and switches all work fine.

No cracks in the windshield. Rubber seals all around are good (I replaced a couple that were worn)

Very minor squeaks and rattles, probably no more than it had when it had 10k miles. I owned car with low 20s on it and it rattled more than this.

There's everything that I can think of. I'll let the pictures do the rest and I'll be glad to answer any questions. Slightly negotiable, stock parts are all included unless we work something else out.
I've shipped and received cars before and am willing to do it again. 25 minutes from Denver international, and I'd be happy to help you find a flight and accommodations and pick you up.

Sorry about writing a book, I planned on making a quick summery and soon realized I was typing out everything I can think of about the car :)

Sorry about the multiple posts, I was getting errors with the whole thing in 1 message so I had to split it up.

Yoojeankim has seen the car, and will hopefully vouch for the condition.

Looking for $14k OBO, not in any type of hurry to sell, and I'm willing to negotiate especially with a local depending on what you want included.

Those are clouds, not swirls. Can you read the sign in the reflection? :)

Sun was super bright, and should give you an idea what kind of condition the paint is in.

Deposit received from a local guy.
We negotiated it with the stock interior back in, so expect the JDM seat conversion for sale soon.
I'm looking at you Dan, that 95 would be tits with a rear seat.

Dan's selling his, too. I think someone else around here is looking for the rear seats though.
