Colorado Springs Weekly Meet Thread
Yeah, rotaries and gas mileage are a contradiction. But 10 mpg in a 4 cylinder....uh...no. Since refilling with Soopers gas...no troubles. Hmmmmm.

Yeah! my car doesnt run as good and gets worst gas mileage from king sooper stations. My mom got me a gas card there so i used it up but now im back to Western cuz its good gas and cheap.
Mine does better on Soopers gas. Odd. I'll try western sometime, perhaps.

Nah, it isn't made. A nice bath made it feel all better again.
As far as the gas, I think perhaps it was a bad batch at the Circle-K.

i did a project while i was in automotive school. i came to this conclusion on why you save more on cheaper gas.
cheap gas (king soopers, western, conoco): less additives = higher city mpg, more carbon buildup, less alcohol reading
premuim gas: (chevron, shell): lots of additives = lower city mpg, improved highway mpg, 70% less carbon build up, higher alcohol reading.
i would apply this to every car but every car is different but it also depends on the time of the month. poor mpg could also be due to the amount of alcohol that has been leftover in their containment tanks. alot of alcohol leftover = less mpg. i used a mazda millenia on these tests.
you can try it yourself. all you need is a gravity tester kit and some gasoline
just my $0.02

speedjunkie wrote:Oh I've had that before, but I don't remember where I got it and it caused my car to not start at all. My car used to be VERY finicky on gas. If it sat for 2 weeks, you might as well pump out the old fuel and replace it. It doesn't seem to have those problems much anymore though fortunately.
i think i know youre problem. was it during the summer or winter?

Whatever extra 1-2mpg I might get from Shell gas does not make up for the extra 20-30 cents a gallon I have to pay for it over King Soopers gas. (Comparison between Briargate/Union King Soopers and Constitution/Powers Shell)

One of the times was during the summer IIRC, because it was the night I finished with my first single turbo swap and took it to Frank to tune it, and the damn thing wouldn't start. I got the gas from that station right across Circle from Gunnison, just a couple streets more toward Platte. It's over near where you used to turn to go to Street Dreams. I don't remember what the name of the place is though. But I had JUST bought the gas there as I was going to Frank's. And we spent the next few hours trying to get the car to run. And it did quite a number because after checking everything, we finally determined it was bad gas, and even after swapping it, we had to pull the car around the block about twice to pull start it before it finally started.
Coincidentally, that is also the night Morris stopped talking to us for about two months because he was pissed that we were telling him we'd already troubleshot everything he was suggesting was wrong LOL.
In any case, I think it's happened every time of year though, because it's been more than once. But it doesn't really happen anymore, it hasn't in a long time anyway.
So is anyone doing the Sonic thing THIS Friday, or can i just stay home and save the gas lol?
