New guy crossing over.

Postby JettmkII » Sat Sep 11, 2010 9:14

My name is Seth, I'm 22. Going to the Art Institute of Colorado for Visual Effects and Motion Graphics. I don't have a Mazda but my family loves them. I'm the black sheep and drive a Volkswagen Jetta also I'm a member of Metrodubs. I do however really like Mazdas and I am in the Market for a Mazdaspeed 3. I've driven them and love them. My family has owned a lot of Mazdas (MX-3, Miata, Protege, 3 RX-7s, 626, Mazda5) We currently only have an RX-8. At one time we owned a 1976 Cosmo. Not sure if anyone on here has seen it or owns it. It was a white Limited Edition model with a red interior and a white Mazda banner on the windshield, the front driver side was a little crushed in. I don't currently have a picture of it, but here's my Jetta.

Also have a '73 Beetle I've been working on.

So I know I'm not in a Mazda but hope I am welcomed here anyways.

To make everyone happy heres the RX-8

Very cool and welcome.

Every time I see a Winning Blue RX-8 on the street it makes me miss that color a little.

^sourpuss! Two years, 30k, and three track days with zero problems for me. Also modded. Granted not as heavy as those who have problems, but modded none the less.

Welcome. Yeah, Mazdaspeeds can be failboats, and it's a lot harder to put down big HP numbers than it is with some of the more entrenched platforms, but they're still fun. I couldn't stay mad enough at mine to sell it....

Or just get an '08.5 or newer and avoid all the problems :) Most of them anyway. Still can't make 400whp easily but 400whp in a FWD car isn't all that useful anyway unless all your races start from a 60-roll.

Yep. In fact, of the blown motors I'm tracking (spreadsheet nerd), there's only ONE 2009, and like 3 08.5s. And possibly one 2010, but that appears to be a bad turbo, not a blown motor.

Thanks for the welcome! The Current MS3 I'm looking at can be found on autotrader, I would link it but the link is huge. But it's an 08 in Cosmic Blue being sold by Automotive Avenues in Lakewood. If I could afford it I would have gotten it the other day when I test drove it.

And yes those are bullet holes in the fender of the bug. It's no longer up on jack stands, I actually got it street worthy again so if you see it or the Jetta around give me a wave.

So I'm curious to where you guys meet. I might come out sometime in the 8.
