oh dear lord. Bad car shopping choices. Although I heard the original focus hatchback was actually fairly reliable, the sedan seemed like a clunker (when I rented a couple anyway).

LOL, that's my brother's life in a nutshell...bad choices in general.

Actually, another Neon, which got totaled again (3 cars now written off for those keeping score), but it wasn't his fault. He was hit by a drunk driver running a stop sign, luckily he didn't sustain any major injuries and walked with a fat settlement from the drunk's insurance.

He now drives an '02 Toyota Camry my dad gave him, presumably out of pity.

That's funny. Ironically enough, my father in law went from a Focus --->to a Camry. hmmm.
one and one makes two, together we are free

I like it! I have always like fords international focus so much more than the ugly one they sell in north America. I hope the bring the overseas body style here.

It's too bad that in terms of row-your-own, Ford's apparently only offering a 5-MT on the 2012 Focus SE. I guess this is about as close as they come to a base Mazda3 s Sport. (see attached).

I'll be curious to see some road/track reviews of the 2012 Focus 5-MT with 'Sports handling' package and 17" alloy options, I guess.

There are rumors that the RS is coming in a year or two. I'll wait :)

That hilarious man. I almost bought a POS neon for my first vehicle. Almost 100k miles, would of been a poor decision.
