Yep the red color is appetizing. The old place was an old Pizza Hut and the walls were red brick. whatever wall was visible in the dining room that we could put paint on was painted red. I'm sure we are gonna use more red in the new place as well. Even our booths were a dark red/black. Don't want to go overboard though.
The main focus was the Hits the Spot and that's what I want it to be. I could care less about Cafe or Diner part of it. It's just there so people know what kinda place it is. Kinda like your Chipotle example. The hard part is keeping it minimalistic yet eye-catching/memorable.
I appreciate all the help from everyone. Keep the ideas and comments coming.
Also, I guess I'm trying to get 2 things out of this "logo". I'm trying to make it a logo and a Main Sign for outside the business. That's what's kinda freezing me up in making this I guess. We want to be able to etch it into our water glasses and coffee cups. Have a white Vynil on the door. Have it grace the front of the menu. We need it to do a lot and yet be the same in different formats. Does that make any sense at all?
Help me make a business logo!

^^^I like them. I like the diner part. The target. I like the color one. The b/w ones might get mistaken for blood. lol. IDK. Will run it the idea by the boss.
What do you use. Photoshop, Illutrator? I tried messing with illustrator the other day. Epic fail. And even InDesign to make the menu. Even more epic fail.

thanks! yeah on the b&w ones, the splatter was one part I was iffy about, it looks good without the splatter too...
I use Illustrator, my fav program, it's a gold-mine... In-Design is weird and confusing, I don't like it much, but Illustrator can handle almost anything I'm trying to do, menu's, posters, car-wraps, billboards, ads, web-ads.... then I also use Corel Painter a lot, and then photoshop when I have to...

Yeah I was looking at video tutorials for illustrator and indesign. I tried my best at using illustrator to get the club graphic in vector. Cause I made it in photoshop. I guess Indesign is supposed to be good for laying out pages and txt for magazines, menus, websites, ect. Illustrator to draw and photoshop to edit photos. I used photoshop for everything. Bringing 2 other programs into the mix I am lost. Especially cause of my artistic handi-cap. lol.
Let me see the target without the spatter in the b/w ones. I think that should scale prettey good for water glasses.
Yeah indesign is pretty much for massive text layout like newsletter/magazines, it just makes multi-text-field formatting easier... but you can still do it in Illy or Photoshop, If you want to spend time learning I would focus on illustrator more than indesign,..
If you made the club graphic in photoshop with paths, just export to illustrator format (with preserve paths) and the shapes/vectors should transfer over
Updated version below, also included a potential color version, with italicized txt, (I really like it italicized...)

That black/white/red one looks amazing! The only thing I notice is the red lines on the target are a bit jagged, but it still looks wonderful. Better than anything I could ever come up with.

Ok so I get home and I can see them all now. In all the posts and the link. Weird. I'm liking the logo. Much better without the "blood splatter" I like the full color one with the egg as well for the O on the main sign. My brother said he likes it but wants to see more ideas. I can see the red one being painted on a wall in the new place. The logo you made can be applied to many things easily.
Maybe I should turn this into a contest?
"Illy" is just frustrating to me cause the first thing I taught myself to use is photoshop. I know how to use nearly every tool (not to the tools full potential though) in photoshop. When I jumped over to Illy the tools were somewhat the same but you use them differently. It's a different process of drawing and using the tools. Heck I can't even figure out how to properly use the pencil or paint brush in Illy.
Yeah the club graphic I made with some basic tools like rectangle marque tool, txt, and pasting the flying M from another pic in there. The only thing I used the pen tool on were the mountains. And I didn't even save the paths for them.
