Gearing up interest for a mountain cruise

Postby Learjet45 » Sun Feb 20, 2011 9:14

So after the Tech Day at MOL failed, we all went on a mountain cruise, and it was a ton of fun. People were talking about doing it again, and I figure it might be smart to plan it out this time :p

I think it would be cool to get as many people as possible to this one, so I'm thinking of a meeting spot a bit further south kinda out near C-470 and I-25. Hopefully we can get some more people from the Springs to come up, because it's a bit ridiculous to meet all the way up north when there are plenty of mountain roads to drive all throughout the mountains!

I was thinking some time in April perhaps? I think it would be great to have one sooner, but with March being the snowiest month, chances are good it would end up getting moved back anyways. Hopefully this wouldn't be the case, but best to plan in advance.

It would be awesome to get as many people as we can to cruise. So who all is interest?

I've included a poll to find out which days work best.

I'm definitely game for mountain cruises this summer. I'm still hoping to go to Deals Gap but I doubt I'll have a place to sleep at this point LOL. Anyway, April might work if I can get the engine back, broken in and tuned by then, and that can be my shakedown time. Although I don't really want to risk messing it up before DG though either haha.

Saturdays work best for me as well. Or, Sunday would work too and then we could hit the Sonic meet after.

^^^ I'm with Henry. Lol. I can't do Saturdays, unless you want a *night* cruise & after 8PM.

Yeah if we plan a big long day cruise it would have to be soooon because I'll be pulling my 7 days. When Spring/Summer rolls around we could start doing our sonic meets and cruise afterwards like we always did. I'm sure the springs people could organize their own no need to come up for a short time every weekend unless you wanted. These would start around 5-6 and 7-8 sometimes later we would go cruising through the hills. I loved those cruises the most because they were around sunset and we had small groups and the pace through the turns was great. They were short but we always had a great time. I figure though with prices and peoples schedule these could be twice a month instead of weekly.

BOT, I probably won't be making a day cruise anytime soon so when this gets going I want pics.

I'm definately up for either Friday evenings or Saturdays in general (non-autocross-weekends, though). Sundays would be possible, but it'd need to be earlier in the day.

Weekends would be awesome. For the next... oh... 9 months I'll be in school M-F so weekends would be the best option for me.

It's been really nice lately so if we want to try to plan on sooner, that's by no means illegal :p Just thinking ahead. I'm up for one whenever, as long as it's on a weekend.

Perhaps Sunday the 13th? The 13th is when we spring forward for daylight savings, so it could make for a beautiful drive.

I wonder if we can get more springs people to join.

That's the goal. I think if we went cruising somewhere a bit further south. It's an extra 30 miles to go from I-25 and C-470 up to Golden where we were on Saturday, so hopefully if we meet up further south more people will come.

i-25 and lincoln is a good place to meet up...there's a super target right off there with a parking garage where we could figure out where we're going and the 13th sounds awesome to me...but im down for whenever, sooner the better :D
