Tech Meet? Sometime?

I know it's winter and all, but does anyone actually do any kind of work on their own car? I tried a couple of months ago, more than once, to have a tech meet to no avail. Just curious. I know we're a rather social club, but was wondering if folks actually enjoyed working on their rides as well. I've got a bunch of things planned in the near future, I'll probably get a heater for the garage and get working on some things I've been stockpiling now for a while.

as everyone already probably knows, I have no plans for my vehicle until I get out of my lease.. but I'm up to going to a tech meet just to hang out and take pictures...

maybe help out a little, learn some new things...

I LOVE working on my own car. My problem right now is time with 2 kids. Once they go to bed at night, I'm basically spent as well and their rooms are directly over the garage so no air tools once they go to bed.

I've got an intake manifold I'm in the process of slowly fixing up and porting.

I have a lightweight power steering pulley that needs to go on. Anyone have access to a press? It can be done with a puller, but everyone that does it that way has destroyed the stock pulley.

I'm due for an oil change soon.

And I just found out that 3/6 and Speed3/6 brakes will fit fit my car......... if any of you guys ever upgrade your brakes, let me know! Mazdaspeed Protege brakes are also an upgrade to my car.

I might pull the trigger on getting a catted midpipe from Protege Garage.

I need to paint the B piller on my driver's door. The brakes need to be repainted again as well.

And I need to figure out why my water temp gauge (Autometer) doesn't work very well.

Sounds like you've got some irons in the fire, too. One thing I'm enjoying this time around is that I'm finally working on a newer car. Not as much frustration with frozen/stripped nuts, a previous owner's hack job, gobs of crud everywhere. It's all nuts and bolts...take it apart, but it together. I will admit, the front RB sway bar was a pain snaking through the front end.

I would love to help you both out with anything i can. I may have a heater that runs on propane that we could use to say warm. I will check. When does the party begin?

I have a heater that we use in our son's room, that thing gets WARM! and just plugs in.... let me know when and where!!

I don't have any big plans for my ride unless MazdaTom wants to give me his RSV's (hint hint) j/k.

I was considering a HID upgrade, but not sure I want to mess with that install.
Thinking about getting a custom box made for a sub in the trunk, but might have that done for me.

getting fi via a sc would be nice, but need a kit made, save some $$ and the warranty to expire. so it's a few years off.

I'm up for a tech meet. Although my car is old and has a lot of problems to work out.

I need to install a complete wiring harness. Some idiot that owned the car before me installed a radio without a fuse. The wire shorted out when my friend owned the car and fried all the wires that were near by. I have a complete wiring harness from a parts car I used to have.

That is one of the many projects I have planed this winter.

This whole project will not work for a tech meet but people can stand over me while I work or whatever.

I can come up to your place sometime and help out.

I have a two car garage that we could have a tech meet at sometime.

i work on all my vehicles. swapped the engine on my 666 turbo mazda.

swapped a axle, two turbos.
put another engine in my 600 im trying to sell (shameless plug ) and alot of other parts. ive worked on my friends range rover. its fun working on cars, bc its cheaper than a shop.

i used to work on my 98 impreza i had. i have limited access to a garage, a heater would kickass, try marvin. its a space heater that kicks arse.

Im hopefully planning on redoing my whole sound system in these off months.. I wanna redo the trunk and fiberglass everything and redo my amp rack behind the rear seats in a whole new way.. Im also in the works of building some custom kickpanels so that I can have a 3way front stage setup. And if I can find a good set of used door panels then I may take that project on and do up some custom door speaker pods and fiberglass all that to.. But those are all my plans and if I acutally do them is another story....

And Guido.. if you decide you wanna do the HIDs.. let me know and I'll help you install them,, they really arent to hard and since I've done it already it shouldnt take to long to do..
