I'll never go to gateway Mazda ever. Got the 8 from there. Sales was awesome but service dept sucked. Bunch of old guys that were rude, not helpful, and not knowledgeable.

What do you guys think about starting a "Dealership Review" thread?
I wanted to put up a review of McDonald Mazda...
Could be helpful for people in choosing those worthy of da' bidness'

Good idea. Screw McDonald Mazda too. They are the ones that "fixed" my transmission in the first place.

The bracket came in and I took the 8 to MOL yesterday. They swapped the bracket out in about an hour. I'll tell you what...... A class action lawsuit needs to be taken up to mazda for the petal bracket and the relation it has to screwing up the transmission. My car feels like it shifts much better now and I have a theory as to why and how the pedal bracket is at fault. My shifts still grind in 1st to second but the 3rd to 4th shift has vanished. I can drive it hard from first and shift out of high rpm and into second with no problem accept for a slight grind. Previously anything above 4k rpm no matter if I was getting it or taking it easy I would get a massive grind from 1st to 2nd. I was not able to change gears for nothing. It was like the shifter was hitting a wall.

My theory behind this is that the bracket being broken did not allow the hydraulic lines to be pressured fully to do it's job. The bracket was not being held all the way to the floor so when I would shift it was not strong enough to hold the pressure to completely disengage the clutch from the flywheel. It's pretty simple theory but I think it's correct. I want to call the head of MAZDA and give them my 2 cents on why they should replace my transmission for free especially after having 2 brackets go.

I think I'm gonna contact Mazda US and th HQ in Japan with a pretty lengthy letter explaining what is going on. (Email and Standard Mail) I just need to find time to write one.

that's good. Do they sell an upgraded bracket so this doesn't happen again?

Nope. The only place that did is where Tim ordered his. They were reinforcement brackets to go on it. That place went out of business and stole a bunch of money from people.

Does anyone speak Japanese? I thought they had a translate button a long time ago on the Mazda.co.jp site but I guess not anymore. Google and bing translate do not work. I need to find the address and email form on there.

that sucks, You could always make your own reinforced bracket.

Yeah but I have nothing to base it off of. I did have them show my the bracket and where it fails so I could probably make my own. I just want my transmission fixed though.

Courtesy Mazda in Longmont has an amazing rotary tech. they replaced my motor in like 5 days, that includes the time to get the new motor shipped. they also did my clutch bracket same day.
