I drove my RX-8 once without the bumper, it was right after I installed the turbo kit and the filter was positioned behind the bumper but the filter i had was too large so it didn't fit with the bumper installed. I just took it for a spin in my neighborhood and I felt ghetto LOL

Even after I got the bumper and fenders on back in 09 I still drove without a hood for a bit because my old one was trashed (thanks again Street Nightmares) and the new one didn't fit right.

Yeah I'm pretty pleased with the powdercoat and everything else.

It's alive! ALIIIIIIIVE!!!! lol

I started it at first and it threw the alternator nut off since I forgot to tighten it LOL, so I got that tightened and started it again and let it run for a few minutes. I had to refill the PS pump again because it sucked down all the fluid, so hopefully it stops screaming at some point. I am letting it cool down now so I can add more water/coolant. I also discovered that I have to rewire my wideband apparently because it's not working properly. I guess you couild say it's not working at all.

So for the rest of the day, I'm putting on the modded stock fenders so I can see how much they need to be re-modified, bleeding the brakes and clutch, and moving the car out so we can put Simon's dash back in his car. Then if I have enough time I'll put the bumper, hood and FRP fenders back on so I can drive it.

No worries there Ian, we're thinking Simon's master cylinder is bad because the rears will bleed but the fronts won't at all. And Zico's, well...LOL. I will say though, they've both been working their butts off on their cars.

I noticed that my alternator is apparently not charging the battery, so now I'm working on that. After dinner anyway.

I'm hoping to make the cruise in May.

have you guys tried gravity bleeding? does simon have the big brake kit or the stock ones?

got my alternator at napa, lifetime warranty. just sucks cause i cant take it apart to paint it lol

Gravity bleeding? I don't think so but I'm not sure haha. Shawn came over and they used his automatic bleeder with the air compressor and still got nothing. The rear brakes bled just fine but the fronts aren't working and the system is run separately front/rear. When you press the pedal you can see the fluid pumping in the rear of the MC but not in the front, no action whatsoever. We cracked the line for the front and he pumped it and there was no fluid in there at all. So I'm still fairly certain it's bad. It's been out of the car with no fluid for probably a year at least, if not more. And he has stock brakes still, for now lol.

My alternator is the upgraded one that puts out 140a or 200a or something, can't remember, I got it from IRP. So if I want it rebuilt I have to send it back and I'm not doing that haha. Shawn was saying it's possible some powder coat could be covering a part that needs to have contact with metal to complete current flow. I don't think I broke anything when I took it apart but I'm not sure. I'm really hoping it's just powder coat causing it but with my luck it's probably more severe haha. I'm going to test it tomorrow after work.

open up the bleeders on the front calipers and put brake fluid in the master cylinder. see if itll bleed without applying any pressure to the lines. i find it weird that the fronts wont bleed and the rears will. or prime the mc while its on the car?

We tried to bench bleed the line while it's installed. Nothing is working. I'm convinced it's a bad MC, just the front part though. The part for the rears is working fine.

So I think I figured out the alternator issue. I hope anyway. They powder coated the inside as well as the outside and I'm being told the alternator uses the housing as a current path, so if it has powder coat on it, obviously it won't make a connection. We'll see lol.
