If the yellow wire is the sensor heating element power don't hook it into the Datalogit. You only want datalogging linear analog 0-5v signals going into it. There should be no reason you can't leave the 0-5v datalogging wire in the Datalogit box at all times.
How do you have the datalogging aux setup in the FC Edit? Did you Delta AN1 and AN2 because that might throw off your readings. If you MUST disconnect the datalogging wire some reason when not actively datalogging, just put an in-line switch on it.

Haven't seen any FBs, FCs, or FDs driving here or when I lived in Florida for 4 years (although it was Tallahassee, didn't expect any). I've always wanted to see an FD though, even since before I really cared a lot about cars. I've always found it to be a truly beautiful car with a timeless design. I've never seen anything else like it nor do I think I ever will.
Edit: And make sure to post if you will be there in your FD! I'm dying to see it, but don't think I'm going to head all the way down there if I can't! Sorry Chris, you car is not worth 90 miles round trip
I'm surprised you didn't see any FDs in Florida, apparently they're all over, and apparently they all have 20b's with a T88...I think it gets issued to them when they move there haha. I believe there are several FDs running around Denver, you should be able to see one a little closer, and especially this summer when Mike B starts the rotary meets again, you'll definitely see quite a few.
I've always loved the FD design too, but I love the FC and FB as well. Anything with a rotary really. An RX-8 that honestly wasn't all that impressive drove by when I was driving home and I got a chill haha.
I will probably be at the meet though. I'm about to take it for a spin here in a few. I want to make sure the brakes work after taking out the ABS haha. I also want to wash it and get something to eat. So as long as it's not acting funny tonight, I imagine I'll be there tomorrow night regardless.

Oh OK, using the ignition as the switch and drawing the power for operation from the battery. Got it. Now I just need to see it in a wiring diagram LOL. I have an extra relay from when I rewired the fuel pump, I imagine I can just use that.
erod550 wrote:Seeing Eric's FD is definitely worth the drive. He has one of the baddest FDs I've ever seen.
Thanks Eric! That means a lot. I'm glad people appreciate the work I've put into it.
Learjet45 wrote:And on topic, hopefully you get all your issues worked out easily!
Thanks! It's almost there I think.
erod550 wrote:I will probably be there. Need to give Chris some stuff to give to Lyssa to give to Operator, heh. Won't be able to stick around all night but I should be able to pop over for a few.
Better be careful with turnover like that, maybe email him a list of what you're giving him so he can cross check it and make sure no one pilfered anything LOL!
J/K, I believe Chris and Lyssa can be trusted lol.

Well I know that now LOL! Back then I just hooked it up how the other guy hooked his up, although I'm still not sure about those two wires going to the wire that runs nowhere lol. It sucks because the FD has a one-wire O2 sensor and has no heater so I can't even hook it to that. I was wondering why I couldn't leave the wire hooked up at all times too, but he insisted it had to be disconnected. I did also think about hooking it up to a switch too, I can't imagine that would be a bad thing.
I have no idea how I have datalogging set up in there, I imagine you know more about how it is than I do lol.

So I took the car out for a drive last night. Went to the car wash and got some food. Not even 5 minutes into the drive my SPA water temp gauge started acting up. It had been steady around 70-80 degrees, then all of a sudden it started jumping up to around 150, 200, then back down to 70 something and then settled on 318 and stayed there. I know that's BS but I was still paranoid so I didn't get very far from home. I'm going to do some research but I have a hunch that I just need to bleed the air from my coolant system still, because I still top it off with water almost every time I open the cap. I did notice when I had the midpipe out (messing with the wideband sensor) that there seemed to be water droplets in the exhaust and it smelled like coolant. Although I haven't used a drop of coolant in this engine, just distilled water and water wetter. But there was still a bit of coolant/water in the radiator. Hmmmm.
I also noticed when I got home that my alternator was suddenly only putting out around 12v, so I took off the Pettit pulley and put the stock pulley back on. I guess it's just not in my cards to ever run an underdriven/aftermarket alternator pulley. I started the car this morning and the alternator was putting out a steady 14.5v, back to normal. I was worried I fried this one too, even thought it wasn't the upgraded one.
I should be getting my terminator plug today, so I guess I'll see if the wideband decides to start working again haha.
I keep forgetting to post the pics of the bulkhead connector for the battery power wire.
Oh, I also forgot to mention that my clutch was super soft last night, but still worked, and my brakes were soft on the first press but firmed up with the second press, but I've read that's normal after taking out the ABS, so IIRC I'll have to bleed the brakes again.

your water temp shouldn't show 70-80 if the car is warmed up, it should be way higher.

Well supposedly you should let it warm up to at least 70 before driving. I talked to a coworker a bit ago, he's been a mechanic for a few decades now and he used to work on rotaries back in the 80s actually. He said the reason it's reading so high is because the air isn't completely burped out and steam is causing the high temp. He also said to use close to a 50/50 water/coolant mix so it will raise the boiling point, right now I'm only using distilled water and water wetter.
So if Zico can find all the pieces to Ian's funnel LOL, I'm going to use it to burp the system and use coolant/water mix like normal. And of course bleed the brakes and clutch again.
Boy I hope I'm getting off early today so I can still make it to the meet tonight lol. I could wait with the brakes and clutch until after the meet I suppose, they still work alright, just not as well as I'd like.
And if I don't make it to the meet tonight I guess Learjet could stop by the house if he really wants to see the car LOL.
BTW, is there anywhere local that sells the Lisle funnel? Sears as a whole carries it but I called the Southgate store and they said they don't carry it.

I went home over lunch and I got the terminator plug for the wideband while I was home. IT WORKS! So I'll either try to fix that tonight before the meet or after, or maybe tomorrow after Kellen's parents have been by to get her stuff.
I also got some stuff from Ray Crowe...a new wire for the power steering pump and tabs to keep the fender vents attached. So I installed that stuff and I'm going to try to do the wideband tonight I think, but I want to do the coolant thing for sure. If I don't get to the wideband until tomorrow, no big deal.

I believe Eric is using Celsius metrics. For some reason FD guys use everything in the metric system I've noticed haha.
I have a Lisle funnel, unfortunately you're in the Springs! A good tip for burping/bleeding air in the FD cooling system is to undo the throttle body coolant hose and point it straight up when filling the system so air trapped in the rear of the keg as easily escape.

Actually I think the gauge is set up to be fahrenheit but I haven't checked to make sure yet. I believe you can set up the SPA gauges to read either though. I'd rather use F than C to be honest.
I'm getting a funnel from O'Reilly after work. Thanks though lol. And also, I deleted that hose a long time ago, and just recently I deleted the thermowax sensor, so I can't use that method anymore. That is the hose I have running straight to the front of the engine, to the water pump housing. Basically where it goes after it normally goes through the TB, I just have it going straight there instead.
