83 oil cooler leak

Postby MtnHighRX-7 » Sat Jun 04, 2011 9:14

So I thought.
Let me get these O rings in this oil cooler so I can take the car to Bandimere tomorrow. HA! that didn't work out well cause its 20:30 and I'm done taken it off 3 hrs work cause I had to work today. Had to get a 23mm wrench and it took forever to get that oil bolt off 1/8 turn at a time:wacko: Than the two little *** nuts on the bottom I mean WTF, and I bought 4 O rings from Mazdatrix cause it said four where used on the 83's. Ahem, there's only two that I see:confused:.

So is there anyone out there that knows About the 83 12a with the bee hive oil cooler, is it 2 or 4 O rings all I see is two.

Sorry about the Whining:lol:

the other 2 o rings are below the base. Once you get the oil cooler off, you have to remove the base that the oil cooler bolts too.

Done

Postby MtnHighRX-7 » Sun Jun 12, 2011 9:14

I finally got my parts Friday I messed up on a couple parts # but all in all, got everything I needed.
6 waterhoses
2 crush washers
2 v belts
2 oil-metering lines
4 itsibitsi clamps
1 oem heater hose clamp
Got the 4 oil Orings last week, but I only got far enough into taking off the beehive Oil cooler, than realized that I needed to replace all these other parts.
I did alot of cleaning around the area of the driver side rear rotary housing on Saturday evening after work. Than today started the installing of all these parts. It took all day 9hrs (I could never make money as a mechanic.lol) taking my time and cleaning, wire brushing and painting as needed.

I took the air pump off too get too the lower radiator hose and oil metering pump. It had the wrong v belt size on the AP that I had to pry it off with a srewdriver:huh: While off I spun the pully, sounded a little weird but I don't know what it should sound like. Well it may be retired next year anyway as I start to modify:)
When it was all finished and antifreeze replaced I fired her up and checked for leaks and checked the new oil lines (can actually see the oil in them:lol:).
Than took it for a spin.
Funny; when you pet the kitty the kitty purrs.
