FS (feeler): 1990 Mazda Miata

Postby roninsoldier83 » Tue Jun 14, 2011 9:14

SOLD!!

Well, you guys know me, and the story behind the car...

I originally purchased this car with the intention of running in the local SCCA STS autoX class. Due to a recent change in my personal circumstances, I am not going to be able to compete as I had originally planned, which is regrettable as I have put a decent amount of time, money and effort into setting this car up to be extremely competitive in the STS class, which, coincidentally should also work well in the Spec Miata class IIRC. The car has 130k miles on it, runs very strong and the transmission shifts smoothly (5-speed manual). The car has the following modifications performed:

-Tein Flex coilovers (height & damping adjustable)
-Racing Beat front sway bar
-Kazera KZ-M 15x7 wheels (Spec Miata legal)
-Stainless steel braided brake lines
-*New* Hawk HPS pads
-Slotted rotors
-*New* Yokohama Advan NEOVA tires- 205-50-15
-Open filter air intake
-Magnaflow cat-back exhaust
-Viscous limited slip differential (VLSD, stock was open) 4.30 FD
-Custom alignment: -1.5*F & -2.0*R camber

The following have been performed within the last 1000 miles:

-*New* rear window (they're not cheap either)
-Synthetic oil change
-Synthetic diff fluid
-Changed power steering fluid
-Replaced shifter/bushings/fluid/leather shift boot/cover
-Replaced interior trim (no cracks or tears anywhere in the interior, hard to believe the car is 21 years old)
-Rebuilt two of the brake calipers
-New air filter

You guys know me, and know that while I go through vehicles fast, I also take good care of them. I have a TON of receipts for the car, from most everything I've done to it, as well as from previous owners. I also have quite a few spare parts laying around. The car it setup for running STS, and I have no doubt, with a good driver, it will be extremely competitive in that class. So for anyone planning on running autoX, this is a fairly cheap entry car that has a LOT of options when you want to move up as well.

I'm only asking $3500. With the amount of work I've put into it (see other threads), this is actually a significant financial loss for me. I have the title free and clear, and the car passed emissions with flying colors.

If you have any questions, please let me know, and I'll do my best to answer them.

Thank you!

-Brandon

Yeah, you're telling me. If I had known it would have sold that quickly (and without any haggling at that), I would have asked for more money haha!

After posting it on Craigslist, within 24 hours I had 8 offers. I'm actually shocked at how easy it was to sell.

The Miata is a perfect autocross/solo car especially since you've already put a bunch of money into performance upgrades. So not surprised it went quick, If I had the money I'd have jumped on it. :)

Yea, it already has a bunch of parts that one would need to buy which saves the buyer time. So it's worth a little bit extra to save some work. Glad it sold quickly for you. Now buy that bike!

LOL, thanks buddy. :D

And I'm working on it... I'm going to the MSF course (day 1) tomorrow morning, and might actually buy a bike in the evening after class haha!

I'll let you know how it goes. :D

Do they provide a bike for you in the MSF courses here?

In Pennsylvania, where I got my motorcycle endorsement and took my MSF class, you had to supply your own bike. I thought that was pretty stupid, but you do have to bring your own car to a drivers test.

So you have to drive your car and bike to get a license that is pretty stupid.
