have you driven one? no? then your opinion means nothing...

Even if I drive one and thought it was the best car I've ever driven, I wouldn't buy one.

Seems like everyone on these forums aren't just Mazda lovers, but massive Porsche fanboys as well.

Thats because most people on this forum appreciatte Mazdas for what they are- drivers cars that are light, balanced, and sporty. All things Porsche is as well. Like one, you more than likely love the other.

EDIT- its not Porsche fanboy, its Porschephile, as in Porsche lover. Oddly, Porsches are not my favorite cars, I prefer Ferraris and Lamborghinis, but I can afford Porsche. Think of it as the "working mans" supercar and you might get the idea. Add in the fact that they have won every race series (except Indy) they have ever tried to, with more Lemans wins than anyone else, and the fact that even thier SUV smokes most if not all others, and you can see the superiority. Or maybe you cannot. Maybe when you learn how to drive a proper transmission in something other than a Boulder Camry you will gain an appreciation for fine autos, maybe not. Not everyone can have my refined tastes, so dont feel bad.

I get that a porsche would make a great, more reasonable alternative to something like a Ferrari or Lambo. Personally, I don't put Ferraris and Lotuses on the same level. I would take the Ferrari before a Lotus, but at 1/6 the price of a new Ferrari, or about as low as 1/2 the price of a ~2000 used Ferrari, it makes more sense to me as a "working man's" supercar. I know there are two people in my neighborhood with a Lotus (one Elise and one Esprit), someone with a Ford GT, and a neighbor that got a Carerra over the summer. I just feel like that when I see the Lotuses and Ford GT, it's a bit more exciting than the Porsche.

While a Lotus Elise is a decent sports car, it does nto qualify as a supercar, it simply is not even close to fast enough.

True. A Lotus is more of an exotic than a supercar. But that doesn't mean it isn't totally awesome.

I think it may be time for john to find another forum to play FFF on...

If this were a honda forum, john would be the "vtech just kicked in yo!" kid. but alas this is a Zoom-Zoom forum and john is the kid in the pancake car entering the state limits of Boulder screaming :Pzev just kicked in yo!"

i assume thats a no...

the lotus is too small for me. i didnt find it comfortable at all. though i did like it.

get a mazda2 and race prep it lol. drove one last weekend and a honda fit. im lovin the modified sport compacts. soo easy to drive, turns when and how you want it and the power is perfect. only problem is the fwd, gets slight understeer on tight corners. other than that and i hate to say it, im actually starting to like fwds lol

:o The apocalypse is upon us!

As for me + vtec, screw Honda + VTEC. Only two cars I would ever buy with VTEC are an NSX and an S2000.

Oh, and did I forget to mention, I've never been to Boulder? That place is screweddddd up.

And it would be quite interesting to try to get a Fiat 500 or Mazda2 up to 500hp :p Wasn't that your idea, Ian?

I like Dange's idea of getting an Esprit that he mentioned to me on Facebook :)

i know... its hard to say but its soo fun to drive its funny lol.

these cars were pretty close to stock engine wise, no where near 500hp. but i would still think 500hp on a small car would be pretty awesome. a bit overkill but still awesome lol

I can not get into 928s or 924s for that matter. They have such a bubble butt. they look like an old woman with a really large back end.

Seconded. I am so happy I now own no FWD cars and I will never go back unless I just need a cheap beater and that's all I can find. But never again will I drive a "performance" FWD car. At least not as my main car. Another SRT-4 would qualify as a cheap beater pretty soon, hehe.
