One more thing Tut, since that printer is only USB, you should pick up a USB print server too. That way your printer would be on the network and on and ready at all times. You can print from anywhere in the house. They're pretty cheap on Ebay.

Or you could just leave the computer which has the printer attached to it on all the time like I do. Then I can still print from anywhere in the house because the printer is shared on my network, and it didn't cost me anything extra. Unless you want to count the electricity of that computer being on all the time but it would be anyway. I never turn my desktops off. Hate waiting for boot time, and I have stuff running for LogMeIn and Orb so I can connect to it from anywhere anytime.

^ Ya, you could do that, it works too... but here's my experience with it... I used to do that back in the day but it limits me to put the printer where the PC is and not at a central location like I wanted. Plus, I didn't want to leave my PC on all the time to be just a print server just in case I wanted to print something or having to turn it on every time I wanted to print something. If the computer crashed then the printer would be down. Or if you upgrade your PC, then you would have to set up all your other PC to point to the new PC. Since you most likely you will not have a domain server and you are not on the domain, you will have to worry about pass through security. Unless you have the exact same user and password on all your PCs (or your friend's/family's PC/laptop if they're using your printer). If you use VPN (for work or whatever) on your print server PC then no one will be able to print as long as you're connected to the VPN.

So I decided to just spend $20 and get a print server. Now my printer is just a device on the network that is online all the time and just goes into standby mode when not used. You can even get a wireless print server to free you up even more.

My laser printer and print server has been online and trouble free for 7-8 years now. :)
