Considering selling my dyno.

Postby D Walker » Mon Jan 02, 2012 9:14

Well I just got the new software and hardware sorted out for the dyno and now I am seriously considering letting it go. I doubt anyone here has the room or wants/needs it, but thought I would throw it out there.

Basically what I have is a 2wd Mustang eddy current dyno with air brake etc. that has had the data software and hardware upgraded to a custom setup. this is NOT a converted emissions dyno! The data stack hardware/software is NEW and includes all sensors.
Sensors included:
Dyno sensors-
Shaft RPM
Load (eddy current ouput)
Load cell (torque)
Weather station (ambient temp, barometric pressure)

Car sensors-
Engine RPM (inductive pickup)
Engine RPM (optical pickup)
Boost pressure
2 Wideband 02 sensors
4 EGT Probes

Data stack has additional analog and digital inputs so additional sensors such as coolant temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure, fuel flow, etc are easily added.

Dyno is on casters and relatively easily moved, is portable enough to take pretty much anywhere and could be trailer mounted. Still need to build an electronics roll-around to house the eddy current controller, stack, and have a place to set the laptop.

Thinking about $20K for the whole unit.

Good deal here, if I was closer to doing my own thing I'd be seriously considering this.

Yeap it is a good price, inertia dynos and converted emissions dynos usually trade at about this price. The new data stack alone was about 8K, and the dyno itself is in very good condition overall.

Wow that is a great deal. I would like an AWD dyno but considering that these Mustang dynos in AWD are closer to $100k, this is a fantastic deal lol.

^Actually if I ever won the lotto or something I would have a dyno in my 6 or however many multi car garage haha. Except I would want DynaPacks for space savings.

You can convert this one to AWD for about 30K additional, I already spoke to Mustang and Land and Sea about it.

This dyno literally rolls out of the way on its casters, and is fairly compact, but its a heavy bastard, really need two guys to move it around. If I keep it (and I probably will) I am building a platform which will double as a permanent scale/setup platform in the shop.

Most of the tuners I know deal with AWD cars, but I'll be sure to spread the word, if I come across someone on the prowl.

I think that's how Frank had his set up in the Springs, on a more permanent setup.

If I had the money (and of course somewhere to put it) I'd snatch it up if you sold it. Although I'm not sure why, my car is deathly allergic to dynos HAHA. So I could only do other cars anyway. A 2WD would for for me and most of the people I'd deal with anyway, but a AWD doesn't exclude anyone, that's the only reason I'd want that.
