It will all depend on how the car was treated before you bought it. A stock MS6 that has always been stock and wasn't abused won't be a threat to blow the motor unless you hyrdrolock it or do something stupid. The problem is finding out how it was treated before. If it was heavily modded and sold, it may be because the previous owner had reason to believe zoom-zoom boom was on the horizon. That's with ANY performance car, not just this one. SO when you are looking at a specific MS6 (or MS3), there are several things you can do.

1. Look for signs of mods. Missing heat shields, a BOV (don't run VTA...it's gay and the car isn't tuned for it...). Other aftermarket stuff.

2. Drive the car. If you feel a pulsating in the clutch, RUN. Not a buzzing--I have had that for years and it's just shitty motor mounts--but a rattling/throbbing/pulsating feel. One person whose motor blew described it to me as a wa-wa-wa feeling.

3. Have a compression test done. If there's ANY inconsistency, have a mechanic actually measure the pistons and make sure there isn't a bent rod in there.

If all that checks out, ask around on msf.org, here, and maybe on Mazdas247.com and see if anyone recognizes the car. THey might be able to hook you up with the original owner or at least tell you how the car was treated.

So maybe I just haven't put enough miles into yet, or maybe I'm not putting down as much power as I think I am, (or maybe I just have a Ringer MS6), but I've yet to have any problems yet with my rear diff. And I do have the car into Groove pretty regularly for scheduled maintenance, etc...

None the less, I don't want any sort of catastrophic problems down the road, so I was looking at the SURE product line.... Which brings me to my question....

Not that I'm opposed to getting both of them, but if you had to pick one as being "more helpful", would you pick the SURE Juggernaught or the SURE Dreadnaught?

I'm kinda leaning more one way than the other, but I'd like to hear what ya'll think... Thanks!

I think you missed the smiley face at the end of his post. He was being sarcastic.

It seems like the Dreadnaught would be the first step toward protecting the rear end. I didn't realize the MS6 was AWD. According to the descriptions, the juggernaught is in addition to the Dreadnaught.

Because I don't want anybody else to own one. It's an exclusivity thing.

Yeah, I saw that part when it talked about "addition" as well, but I don't know if I'm convinced that the DN is required so-to-speak. I think I can bolt-on the JN by itself. And it does speak to the problem of "bolt shear", which I think is the MS6 weaklink that some people have experienced. Maybe I'll give SURE a call, and see what they have to say. (?)

If you're going to get just one, get the Dreadnaught. It SHOULD limit movement enough that the front mount is a little safer. However, remember that they each do something different. The Dreadnaught (rear diff top mount) prevents front-back movement and delivers power to the wheels, while the Juggernaught (rear diff front mount) prevents twisting motion. My bolts sheared on the front mount when I slipped the back tires on ice, then suddenly caught them on asphalt. I'm REALLY lucky I didn't crack the diff casing.

But if you're going to do one, you should really do both at the same time. Install is not something you'll want to do twice.

Those two mounts turn out to be a cool 500.00. Although, if it holds your rear end together, probably worth it.
