decision on new wheels

Alright, Brent sent me some pics of the wheels, how they are right now anyway. And kind of the process of cutting them too. I have to be honest, I really hope I'll like these more once I see them in person because right now I'm not 100% on these LOL! I need to see them on the car too. Also keep in mind they are still waiting for the colors. I'm trying to do a tinted brushed finish on the face (basically where you can see the brushed aluminum under a dark coating) and a black chrome on the lips that is lighter than the face, or maybe just regular chrome, although I'd go for polished too (he advised against just polished though, due to the upkeep). The wheel in the 4th pic should be one of the front wheels, he said they'll have a 2" lip and the rears will be 4".

HAHA! I've already had Enkei RPF1s LOL! They were my first set, and kinda second set too. I'm looking for this design specifically. Thanks though!

I'd think about putting those on a 1st gen, but with more lip. And obviously the bolt pattern would have to be different lol.

What don't you like about the wheels so far Junkie? I think they are looking good. That 4" lip is going to be insane. Nice place to set a beer while your working on the rear end I suppose:p

I hope you guys are right. I don't know, maybe it's the flat lip or they're not concave at all, I'm not sure. I mean, I knew they weren't going to be concave, but they looked more concave-like (kinda like Enkei RP01s) in the renderings. He ended up telling me concave wheels aren't quite as strong anyway, but TE37s seem to be so I'm not sure haha. I think I'd like it more from a different angle or something, more of a side view, at least until they're finished or maybe even on the car. Either way, I'm at least going to mount them when they show up and see what it looks like haha.

Will you be able to change centers out if you don't like them, or will you just have to sell and start over?

Are you talking about on these wheels or the TE37V? These are 3pc wheels, so I could change the centers, I could make the wheel wider, change the offset, I could also change to a step lip but that would make it a 19" wheel and I don't want that. So I guess I'll just see how these turn out.

They sent me another pic too.

I was referringto "your" wheels, not the other ones mentioned in your thread. That's great you can change them up (though I suspect that would not be inexpensive).

I think those will look great on your car. The depth of the lip is nuts.

Yeah I'm still not sure how I'm going to feel about these until I see them in person. One thing I like about them being modular is that if you wreck one of the lips, it's easy and cheap enough to replace. The lips are usually only a couple hundred at most, so you're saving quite a bit by not having to buy a whole new wheel.

Dave, I'm trying to get them to tint the centers so they will be dark but still transparent so you can see the brushed aluminum underneath, and I'd like to do something like SBC on the lips. My only stipulation is that the centers are darker than the lips. I want the lips to be somewhat flashy.

There is a smoked color translucent powdercoat I have seen. Probably about what you are looking for. It will give a little depth to the color too. I had the company spray some barbell clamps in a translucent purple for my wife (odd, I know).
