Well, if there is anything you can afford to do AFTER the engine is in and it's running, please do that lol. It's not that I don't want you riding along, I wouldn't mind having someone to talk to on the trip. I'd just love to have as many cars as possible going along.
I just talked to Zico last night and we were talking about things he needed to do yet. I told him at least one of you needed to be done because I only have room for one passenger LOL.

Yep. Now is the time to do all the smaller stuff.

I emailed back to my Capt and my Shirt (who I was stationed with at my last base already) asking them to put it on the books, but neither of them got back to me. I called back tonight and talked to someone else about checking tomorrow. I want to pay for it before the new year because the price goes up. As you can imagine, hardly anyone is at work for these two weeks haha.

Well it looks like the oil burning issue might be fixed. My oil cooler thermostat was installed backwards, so I fixed that and two Sunday's ago when I drove it, it smoked so much less and didn't burn near as much oil. Since then I installed the catch can and reclocked the turbo to where the oil inlet and outlet are straight up and down. I finished Friday night just in time for it to snow lol. I took the car for a drive today and I checked the oil afterwards and I don't think it burned any oil. It still smoked a bit but there was probably some in the exhaust anyway. I'm going to drive it again tomorrow and see what happens. I'm super stoked though haha.
Oh, and I'm dropping the car off at Beauchamp Racing and Restoration here in town on the 25th and removing the turbo so he can start fabbing the manifold and downpipe. The only thing I can think of that I'll need to do is get an oil drain line made. I'm not planning to use the water cooling on the wastegates, not yet anyway. I'll just run them as is for now. I'm thinking the price for the manifold and downpipe will probably be around $1000, maybe a little more.

I never talked to him about doing it for $650 lol. I still think it's worth it though, especially if he welds it himself. His work is beautiful. Not to mention this place is local, about as close as I can get, and I'm thinking about working on it with them that way I can see how difficult it will be to install, etc.
I went for a long drive today, much longer than yesterday. I haven't checked the oil yet, and it was smoking quite a bit, but I think it was probably just oil in the exhaust burning off, or maybe the turbo is still getting blow-by, which will be solved with the new turbo anyway. In any case, I'm doubting it's the engine. I'm expecting the oil to be a little low, but I have no real reason to believe that. I think the car has just conditioned me to believe that nothing will fix the oil burning issue lol.
