Steering wheel

Postby Skye's7 » Mon Aug 27, 2012 9:14

Hey guys, I pretty much don't know what I'm doing any more. I it a free steering wheel from my cousin that gives it a detachable look to it. Long story short, I'm tryin to install and I'm frustrated. I took the peice where the honker off with ease, then I got the nut off. I start yanking on the damn the and nothing. So I take a closer look and I see two screws that seems to be holding the wheel on place. So I'm guessing I have to get the two screws off to be able to yank the wheel off? I tried taking the cover on the ignition off but it seems that it doesn't come out with ease or without breaking it. I'm pretty frustrated at this point. I don't want to take the dash apart cause I don't even know how to do that ahha......

if you've taken the horn cap/airbag cap off along with the center nut then you will need a steering wheel puller to remove the wheel.

I would be sure to disconnect the battery and let it sit disconnected for 20 minutes if there is an airbag.

The steering wheel tool is really simple. Steel plate with some bolts you attach to the senter of the steering wheel and other bolts you use to bakc the wheel off.

There is some trick to keeping the steering wheel aligned properly with the steering shaft so everything lines up nicely...but I forget what it is.
