IMHO they killed the WRX with the new look. Granted the only hatchback I've ever liked is the 3 it still doesn't make up for the bland lifeless front end. There's no more personality in that car. I loved being able to spot a WRX from a mile away and then debating on whether it was an STI. It's a shame. I loved that car almost as much as the 8 :(

Funny this was brought back up, yesterday after getting the rear window banner, i stopped by flatirons subaru to check out the new STi. From what i saw its not horribly bad, but nor is it as awesome as the STi's its replacing. A lot of people cite the new fender flares as giving it a more aggressive look than the outgoing STi's, but they aren't really "flares", more bulges imo. They had an '08 and an '07 side by side, and the "flares" on the '08 when comparing it with an '07 STi, make the '08 look retarded. The '07 flares are so much more aggressive, very defined, while the '08's are just very large and smooth (well rounded) imo. The rest of the '08 isn't exactly great either. One of the '08's they had didn't have fog lamps and looked awful without them, just way to much black plastic for a car that was 35k. The one in the showroom was silver with the BBS package, and all the goodies and was 39k, didnt look to bad.

The things i LOVE about the new STi, are the 5 spoke wheels they can come with (man they are sexy!), the new (in color only) calipers (the black and white "STi" logo on them are just gorgeous), the fact it slightly resembles our cars is kind of cool.

Idk, overall i am less impressed by the '08 STi in person than i was in photos. Great car under the skin, i would get one, but i would much rather have an '05-'07 STi.

Side note, the new wrx's are completely and utterly awful. Completely turned into an econo-box. They appear just as aggressive as a KIA does.

yow!!! I have read that subie interiors have always been bland or lacking in refinement thus having the econo look, I have been told they have made efforts to improve the interior with more luxurious materials and such, but perhaps not.

The interior imo is worse in the wrx, the STi looks a tad bit better. The gauges in the STi appear to be more refined and "modern" but i mean, idk, i was commenting more on the exterior of the new wrx, but yes, the interior gives off an econo-box looks and feel as well.

Yea the WRX never was much for interior. I can only assume they were more concentrated on performance :72451581:

Well, technically the Impreza is an econobox all the way around. And some race bits, and shazam, it's a WRX or STI. Pricing on this car is absurd.

I think they're blowing the price up to hype it up and make it seem like it compares to the soon to be released GT-R. People do tend to think the higher price makes a better car. The Saleen S-7 is a much better car than the McClaren but people drool over it cuz it's a million dollar car.

One of my buddies from my SRT club snapped a couple pics of a guy driving a white one. Shit, it might even be the one that was in that pic above!

I finally stopped by Go and checked out the 2008 STI, it was the white one. I liked the new look. At 39k it was a bit much.

I found it interesting to see that the dealership had a flyer comparing the STI to other vehicles, including an EVO rs, 350z and you guessed it a Mazda Speed3.

I wanna see a test on how the MS3 vs the 08 STI does.. that'll be interesting...

Although when it comes back a close tie people aren't gonna wanna pay 39k for a car when they could pay 24k for something almost as good.

What do you mean by almost as good? Don't you mean "just as good" or "better"?
