I think you should buy tuts 3. It's as close as you can get to buying a performance car from a grandma.

I don't think you told me anything tut, you are just reducing the opportunity for finding a potential car. I looked at tons of cars including dealerships with full detail completed on the car and found issues with them.

Hey there you two, don't be that way...come on now.

Mr. Dow, that is truly the nicest thing you've ever said to me (re: Grandma). It's true- my car really is an unmolested, "grandma only drove to the grocery store and back" whip, and one a used buyer would be lucky to find.

Sadly, its not for sale.

It is the only one I would buy!

Just an update here.

Went to look at an '09 Speed3 today at a dealership. 31,000 miles, white. Seems pretty good. Interior is not bad, lot of dog hair though, even though its been through detail. (Albeit a poor one).
Has spent its days back and forth from Colorado and Texas. Exterior seems great.
It has an intake and a short shifter, with a JBR shift weight on it. Stock exhaust, appears to be stock everywhere else.

But one negative to it is it makes a lot of noise out of the transmission. When at a standstill, if its in neutral and the clutch is released, you can hear this...noise. Also happens when in low RPMs in-gear and rolling, and when shifting between the lower gears (1st, 2nd and 3rd). Its difficult to describe, but sounds like dry gears rubbing against each other, or maybe a bad bearing.

Just looking to see if anyone thinks this could be a major problem, or if this might be something you've experienced before. We're getting it taken to a transmission shop on Monday, but some input is welcome.

On a side note, on my test drive I ended up following with another white gen-1 MS3 on 6th avenue towards Golden. That was fun.

Good news everyone!

I was able to find a Speed3!

It was posted online just a couple days ago for Ehrlich motors in Fort Morgan. I got there basically just after they had it through the shop/detail. I couldn't pass it up.
46,000 miles, 2008.5, CWP, Sport. It was owned by an older couple so it's completely stock. The driver seat is fairly worn, but the other seats don't even look like they have been sat in. Has a clear bra and tint. Also has a door ding on the drivers side, but its not too noticeable.

Biggest problem with it, which I wouldn't have noticed if the dealer didn't say anything, is that the front quarter panels were replaced. The PO apparently had a deer run into them causing a sizable dent. But the shop did a great job, they replaced the panels with new ones and the color match is fantastic.

Picked it up for $15k out the door!

Nice, congrats!

And I know it's late now but that transmission noise on the other one may have been solid or at least stiffer than stock motor mounts. You get all kinds of transmission chatter in the cabin when you upgrade the side mounts. But they do a great job of getting rid of wheel hop!

Or it might have just been a bad transmission, heh. You never know with used performance-oriented cars.

Thanks!

Yeah, we had it taken to a shop and they came back saying it was a bad throw out bearing. But I didn't even consider looking at the motor mounts! Of course, the shop might have diagnosed it incorrectly as well.

Clean looking car. You might be able to do paintless dent repair for that door ding.
