Well, I'm done going and going on this car for a while. After I got off 470 onto 70 west today headed to the event, I was going up the hill and lost all fuel pressure. I shut the car down pretty much right away, but I haven't checked it yet to see what the problem is or if I blew the engine. I called the insurance company and they sent out a tow truck and he hauled it back home for me, $155. Not too shabby lol.
I've been going and going because someday I want to have it running as close to perfect as I can and in as good of shape as I can, but I just can't seem to ever get there. I doubt I ever will. I think I'm gonna take a break from the car for a while.

Sorry to hear about your trouble Eric.
Of all the cars cmzc members own (and especially of all the FDs), I think I like yours the most. Sucks to hear that someone who puts in so much work keeps having bad luck.
Side note: Can I call first dibs on buying your car if you ever sell it if anyone here with FD experience doesnt want it? Not that I expect you to anytime now or in the near future if ever. But I'd absolutely hate to see it go to someone outside the club that wont appreciate all the work you did. Or worse, swap a piston engine into it.

Same here, a real bummer. Breaks can be good, I say enjoy your time away and come back with a level head.

I still haven't looked into the problem but I was planning on upgrading the fuel system again anyway before doing ignition again. I'm looking at the Walbro 485 pump, which will also allow me to step up to E85 if I choose to. I'll probably also pull out the Kenne Bell Boost A Pump, since the 485 will support up to around 500hp. One less thing to break, if it didn't break already and cause my problem Saturday lol. I'm going to address the fuel system wiring too, just not sure what I'm going to do yet. Then I'll get the AEM coils, get all the ECU and gauge stuff sorted, get the AC lines built finally lol, and be back in business with any luck. As long as I didn't blow the engine.
I know you run you car at pretty high PSI, a supra pump at 25PSI boost pressure and 40PSI base pressure flows (65PSI) and a fuel pressure drop of 15PSI puts you at 80PSI. the supra pump can supply 170 liters per hour at 14V, 80PSI. that is good for only 368WHP.
if your boost a pump gives 16V to the pump that puts you at 245 liters per hour at 80PSI and is good up to 531WHP.
Be careful running E85 in the beginning. you need to basically break in the fuel tank. E85 will take all the crap in the tank and dislodge it and will clog your strainer and fuel filter. you will need to take it easy and replace the fuel filter and strainer a couple of times before you can push the car.
I would also double think your choice to go to E85. the reason I say that is stoich on E85 is an AFR of 9.765. max power rich is around 6.975 AFR. probably tune around 7-8 AFR for max power.
if rx7's get 22MPG at 15AFR for gasoline.
at 9.765 AFR in cruise you will see 14MPG cruising at best. If you get on it you will be around 11MPG. say 20 gallons of fuel used, your range is only 220 miles for a fuel tank. eeek.

Oh I'm not planning on running E85 anymore, although I did make it sound that way in my last post lol. I briefly thought about it, but I've decided to stick with dinosaur juice. I was just looking at that pump for what HP it can support. But I've been told Walbro's aren't especially reliable, so now I may be looking at other options again.

OK I'm now hearing about a new pump Bosch is building in conjunction with Paul Yaw of Injector Dynamics. They say it will run circles around the Bosch 044, which is what someone suggested I use. I'm going to check into both of them. Either way, I might get this new one and try it out. I know Walbro and Aeromotive don't have the best reputation as far as reliability. Actually I just learned of that for Aeromotive, but I knew about Walbro already. So I think I might try the new Bosch when it comes out, if it doesn't take too long.
