No pics yet. Got the padding and cover cut/installed. Right now, I've got some extra tape holding the padding on until the adhesive on the SFI gets cured. Trimmed the carpet and have the parcel shelf back together, for the most part. Still have to do the finish work on the carpet, the clips/etc to secure it. I got the carpet from Stockinteriors.com. To be honest, the carpet sucks. But it should do in the meantime.

Drilled/mounted the seat. One more thing finally done. Next up, frame rails. after that, the clutch slave/SS line, and it's time to drive it around for a bit.

What don't you like about the carpet? Thin, poor fiber density?

Glad the other work is coming together nicely.

Exactly that, thin, poor density, the backing is such that the smaller pieces don't lay down well. Enough so that I may look to get a different carpet used.

I've also known about seatbelt retraction "issues" when a rollbar is installed. If by issues, people meant "not work at all", then they are correct. As such, I'll be getting harnesses and a bar sooner rather than later.

Yes. Seatbelt retraction sux even with the optional guides. It's the way the belt twists after the rollbar install that causes it.

Harness bar and 4 pt Corbeau harnesses ordered. I'm not driving without seat belts, especially since I don't have an airbag anymore, either. I went with the 4 point belts for convenience/cost factor. I don't see the need (on a road car that will get a couple of track days a year) for a 5/6 point system and fumbling around with that every time I drive. Especially since the Miata is currently my spring/summer/fall DD.

My Garage Vary tail lights also shipped. Those were a bit of an impulse buy that I'm not sure I'm thrilled with yet. Hopefully my thoughts will change once they arrive.

These are just set in at the moment, not screwed down at all.

Interesting. I'm curious what it'll look like painted. You could piss off some Camaro and Mustang owners and paint it black... :D

I briefly got under the car this weekend. The passenger side rail will need minor reworking, the driver's side is in really rough shape. My harnesses will be here tomorrow haven't seen shipping on the harness bar yet, so I'll contact them. It'd be nice to have them in by this weekend.

My wife seldom says anything about the Miata. Ever. Other than the garage stinks after I've fired the car up after sitting for a while. Over the weekend, and without prompting, she took a look at it and simply said "I like those tail lights better than the other ones." then went back in the house. Nice, because initially when the large box showed up she simply looked at me and said "more car parts".

I like the look of them. Some red paint and they will look great.

Is the opening adjacent to the license plate area for a tow hook? Just noticed the rear of your car is lacking a hook. Will be needed for track day in case you end up off and need a tow on.

That's for the reverse light. And yes, I'll be replacing what folks refer to as the baby teeth with tow hooks in the future.

My harness bar will be shipping "by the end of the week", so next week, I'll be able to drive again within functional seatbelts!

Looks like it's coming together nicely!

Just curious, now that you've got the bar in and the seat bolted to the floor, how much head clearance do you have with the bar? And how far is your head from the soft top roof?

I haven't measured, but i'm definitely under the bar, and that's still with the cusjions on the seat. I should be at an equivalent clearance with a helmet on and the cushions pulled. I havent put the top up yet to check clearance there, but it'll be good.

Good to hear that your bar isn't too short and the wife approves of your tails. :D

Looking forward to seeing that thing scare the crap out of the margins of a g-meter.
