'92 Miata: Budget Project Car
Thinking of doing something similar to this mockup I did instead of all red for the finish panel. Most likely, I'll paint the entire thing red, and do the black insert in vinyl. The outside of the tails will be red, this is the best I could do using MS Paint at work.

I really like it. A flat charcoal black would look best.

I prefer a solid color across the whole back. It might be tough to match it with the original paint though due to fading and such, so you might be better off with a contrasting color like black. I don't think it will look bad no matter how you do it, unless you paint it lime green or something (no offense to geo, lol. just wouldn't go well with the red).

That's precisely why I'll got with vinyl, or something removable for the black contrast. Right now I think I like it with the black, but don't want to make the leap to make it a permanent solution with paint. I also like blacked out windshield frames on NA Miatas, but I'm too chicken to try that. Yet.

Interestingly, I've contemplated peeling my black windshield frame from time to time, but Will never do it for fear of issues with the paint underneath. I also have grown to prefer the black frame, though with a body color hardtop, I would definitely want body color frame (not that it applies to either of us).
Poor Miata has been neglected. Once the weather gets back to normal, it's in the plans to get this finished up. I still plan on it being the summer DD, except on extreme heat days. I need to get a bikini top for it to be a bit more palatable during the summer, I think.
I also definitely want to get it to the track at least twice this summer, now that Mazda has opened up its MotorSports program to track days. That saves a significant amount on parts (although if I remember correctly, that does not include things like interior/body parts, which isn't a big deal).

It's surprisingly tolerable on the hot days even without working AC. I just leave the top up and put the window flap down and the breeze is enough to keep it comfortable. If you're stuck in traffic a lot though then you won't have much of a breeze and it probably won't be much fun.

The bikini top would be for longer rides, to be honest. When I drove back from the Springs last year on one of the 90+ days, I got fried! Suppose I could wear a hat. I have a cheap top on the car right now, so I can't drop the rear window. No zipper.

Ah, yea I have an upgraded top with glass window in a fold down flap. The stock top's window was ripped to shreds when I bought it. The stock top came with the folding flap too I thought, but your top may not be stock. But yea, if the sun is really beating down, it's too uncomfortable to leave the top down for the reasons mentioned. I found that out when I was commuting to Denver from down here. Even if it's not super hot, the hat is necessary because even with sunglasses the glare is something else. Again, something I learned quickly after getting the car, heh.

Shit. Just happened to peek at the Miata a little closer. It got hail damaged last week. Basically all the body panels I replaced are dented, the hood and trunk obviously got it worst. Sucks ###. Naturally, on a $900 car, I only have liability.

Damn, that sucks. My Miata is hail damaged pretty bad too, but I had full coverage on it at the time, scared about someone slashing my nice new top. It totaled it, but at least I got a nice check out of it. Only liability now of course since it's a salvage title.

I haven't taken any pics of the damage, as I'm too bummed at the moment, but here's a pic the night of the hail storm from last Wednesday. At least I'm glad I pulled the ST in the garage before I went to Vegas, although I think it may not have been damaged. The worst is the hood. Which sucks, because I replaced the old hood because of...hail damage.
