I was looking into the fuel surge issue again and saw a thread on 7club mentioning this...

http://bangshift.com/general-news/new-products/must-see-holley-just-changed-fuel-system-game-big-way/

I'm thinking of integrating this with the HPP in-tank surge tank. If I can make the tank airtight, I can run a couple of these Hydramats from the tank to the rear right and left corners of the fuel tank, and as long as the tank is airtight it should pull in fuel from these when the pump sucks fuel out of it. The only problem I forsee is maybe the check valve causing it to not be airtight. If that's the case, I'll remove that and weld the hole shut. I'd rather keep it as it's another source of fuel, but with 2 or 3 of these I wouldn't need it anyway. I still need to figure out a way to hook the tank to the Stealth pumps but I'm pretty sure the adapter that HPP made for the Walbro 400 will work with the Stealth pumps. For some reason they won't even look into it and haven't answered me back about it, but I'll figure it out.

Additional thought...if I used these Hydramats, I could actually get rid of the Russell filters that came with the tank since these are already pre-filters as well. That would save some space. Or I can just get another tank made without the check valve and the filters and add these Hydramats and then sell the tank.

I've been thinking about adding speakers in the rear quarters. Some FDs came with them but mine have little cubby holes there. I was worried that maybe the harness wouldn't have those connectors for speakers there but I can't imagine Mazda would make numerous different harnesses for all the different options. A guy in England is selling some for $200, the brackets and covers, but I'm trying to look closer to home and see if I can find them cheaper. I'm not trying to spend a lot of money on this project.

I can't really hear much in the car anyway because it's so loud, but I thought maybe that was due to the only speakers I have being down by my feet. Also, if I get bluetooth in there and I can call through the stereo, I'll be able to hear better if I have those speakers behind me. And I'm not losing my space with the cubby holes because I can just put that stuff where the airbag used to be if need be.

I started looking into seats again, and I saw someone had the Cobra Suzuka Pro GT in their FD and it fits better than the Sparco EVO II I've been planning to use. The shoulder bolsters still hit the door panel but just barely. I could shave it down still and it wouldn't be as much as on the Sparco. Also, the Cobra is Kevlar while the Sparco is FG, the leg bolsters are higher down the whole side (which I like) rather than angling down on the Sparco, and it's about the same price. The regular Pro seat is smaller, so I figured that might be a better option and wouldn't need to be modified at all in order to fit, but I think that one is too small for my frame, so I believe I'd have to stick with a GT. I PMed the guy on 7club asking him a few questions but haven't heard back yet. I mentioned them to Adam (the guy that made my seat rails) but he said the Pro model is slimmer (from the specs it looks like 15mm slimmer) and I'd have to wait for his other rails that he's making, but he was going to ask about the GT version. If those will fit, I might still get them instead.

Just found this seat a few minutes ago...

http://www.sparcousa.com/product/grid

Pretty awesome. I emailed Sparco to get dimensions but I'm not holding my breath, I think the bolsters will be too big for it to fit.

Also, for the internal control of the suspension, I forgot Tanabe has a system too, the TEAS. It actually changes the damping as you're driving based on the speed and G forces, so it will adjust differently for a tight hairpin as opposed to a long sweeper. That can be a really bad thing too though if it goes haywire.

Cobra will be coming out with a new seat too sometime this year.

http://www.fastcar.co.uk/2015/02/04/cobra-nogaro-seat/

I emailed them about specs, prices, etc and I got an email back. I'm not sure I'm gonna fit in it, but the seat itself should fit FDs no problem. The shoulder bolsters (most common problem) are only 560mm wide. The hip section is 390mm wide, and I measured my hips at 395mm, so unless their measurement is with foam or I'm driving without pants, it won't be comfortable. Also, it doesn't have a hole for the 5/6pt harnesses to go through, and the sides on a 4pt will go over the sides of the seat. Also, these prices are just speculation right now but they are really high haha. $1300 for the basic fiberglass model with holes for harnesses, and $4700ish for the highest end model in CF. I'll probably just try to get the Suzuka still.

I've decided to go ahead and change over to Flex Fuel so I can get tuned on it right away. However, I think I may need to get a new harness behind the dash and/or around the front of the car. Ugh. That's really gonna set me back with time AND money.

Because I'm switching to Flex Fuel, I want to be able to disable water injection if I'm running more E85. I can't do this easily with my current circuit breakers, so I'm planning to switch to a push-pull type like a Klixon, which is what I really wanted from the beginning.

http://www.aircraftspruce.eu/electrical/circuit-breakers/klixon/klixon-7277-circuit-breakers.html

The only problem is I'm not really sure which one I need to get. I'm trying to find the ones I bought so I can get something similar but I haven't been able to yet. Although I don't even know for sure if the ones I have are the ones I need haha. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also, Zico and Jesse said they tried to start the car again and it just doesn't want to. They also said they had to put the jumper box on the battery AND hook up the Pathfinder. I'm seriously thinking I still have electrical issues which doesn't excite me at all. I'm thinking I'll have to replace the body harness that wraps around the front, and possibly even the harness behind the dash. Those aren't cheap.

A buddy on facebook, and actually the guy that owns ISS Forged, posted about selling his Umbrella Auto Design VRH kit. He's only selling the tank, so I'd have to get lines and the cups from the company. And it's a really good deal. OR, he said he'd sell his whole setup with JRZ Pro coilovers with external reservoirs for $3200...he paid $8500 for the whole package and it's still practically brand new. If I hadn't bought the Ohlins already I'd probably jump on that deal, because JRZ are supposedly top of the line, but I'm not switching from Ohlins. And I'd probably lose my behind on the deal. So, I'm only interested in the tank.

Here is his setup that he'd sell for $3200.

So he sent me a link to the Umbrella page on facebook and they told me I can't buy just the cups. My buddy tried talking to him but he refuses to sell them separately, only because he doesn't want to. Well, I'm sure I can find something somewhere else that will work. Or my buddy said he'd make them himself. And here are a few links Jesse sent me after I told him about it.

Honestly, I'm kinda on the fence still just because I'd feel like I was driving a lowrider lol. But it would be so nice to clear speedbumps with ease and make it into my driveway without having to drive around the block just so I can come in from the right direction lol.

Are those JRZ Pro's specifically for the FD Rx7? If you're not going to purchase those, would you mind if I grabbed them? Can you PM me your buddy's contact info? My coilovers have less than 1k miles...but I wouldn't mind upgrading.

You know for $3200 you could probably have the concrete reworked in front of your house so you can easily get in the driveway.

I'm not going to buy the coilovers. Those are a steal though. I don't know for sure if he'd give you the same price, but he didn't tell me that price was only for me either, so who knows haha.

I actually talked to him about trying the cups on my coils and coilovers, so I'm going to try that when I get back. Then I'd just buy the whole VRH kit from him.

What coilovers do you have now? I'll send the PM after work if I can remember so I can get his number for you. And I'll make sure it's OK with him to give his number out first haha.

LOL, there's the contractor in you haha. True, but I'd have to pay a lot more to redo all the roads in Colorado and between Colorado and Missouri or wherever else I go, and also to remove all the speed bumps and rework all the entrances/exits to places I go. lol It's $3400 for just the VRH kit from Umbrella, but I'd buy one somewhere else before I bought from him anyway haha. The only reason I was looking at these is because he was selling them for a good price.

I've got Pettit TrakPro's with 10/8 springs. With the amount of downforce I'm planning on putting on the car, I doubt these will suffice.

Btw, do you know the spring rate on those JRZ's?

Bringing back the seat discussion. So I know for you, finding a place were you can sit in the seat to physically gauge if you like a seat or not, is paramount. I was browsing through some threads on rmsolo and found a place locally (Denver) that has Sparcos you can sit in.

Check them out when you get back and sit in all the seats you can.

Oh OK. No I don't know, but I sent him a message. Now we wait lol.

Thanks for the link! I hope they have more in stock than what they show on their page lol. I can't afford one of the Technology seats, as bad as I want one lol. That would be another deployment and I'd like to not wait that long haha. I'm going to call them when I get back.

Or you could just put stock bumpers and stock springs back in your car and not have to worry about any of it.
