When you go up there ask Ed to go along for a short drive. Maybe see if he can get you into a new 8 and have him feel the difference in shifting. I remember the 8 used to be silky smooth when shifting. Especially at high rpm's. Now there's like a pushback or something... I can't describe it right...There's jsut something holding it back.
That is because i feel strongly about only taking my car to Burt and about Mazda as a company. It seems to me they take care of their own.

I might. The related issues I've found on RX8club tend to mention it being clutch related. (And the clutch itself was replaced under warranty in 11/06) Even Ed mentioned a clutch issue. Clutch, transmission, I don't care what is the source of the problem, I just want it fixed.
The 3 main issues I've heard of are:
1. Manual Transmission - Clutch Hard to Disengage. http://www.finishlineperformance.com/pdf/r...04-06-1641a.pdf
2. A broken clutch pedal bracket assembly.
3. Loose pressure plate bolts.

Is it hard to change from 1st to 2nd while at a dead stop. I feel that pushback or hardness to shift when at a dead stop.

Well, I tried to be open minded today driving. I did tell the folks at Burt that the issues started at around 5k, and to be honest, I didn't feel anything other than a touch of stiffness. It's really when you get more toward the 8k mark that it's noticeable. As I said, I'll check a few things myself before I talk to anyone about it again.
Quick Edit: Funny thing, when I called Ed yesterday to check the status on the car, the first thing he said was "Yeah...the one with the short shifter!" Haha.
