LOL!!!!! Josh, I dare you to try!!! I don't want to go back to prison, but I will in order to defend my car!!!LOL!!!!!!
I wouldn't just disappear, I would tell you to F.O. if there were a reason to. Truth is this is a funny group, even tough some of us are not loyal to our car brand!!!!!!
Anyway always remember the only truly funny thing Howard Stern ever said was: "subaru is the official car of lesbians"! LOL! Ghost, I guess you are a lesbian according to Howard Stern....!![/b]

It's true... the only women that seem to like Subaru's are lesbians lol. They're too ugly for most straight women to think they're "cute" lol.

When I was younger, and more naive, I always thought women liked fast cars... then I got older, and realized most of them just like cars that look fast... case in point, my wife liked my former 350Z A LOT more than my STI, even though my STI would murder it... I couldn't believe it, when I was in the process of trading my Z in, she got sad and asked "are you really going to sell Zoey?" (I named my Z Zoey lol), I thought she might cry lol. Yet, she still doesn't care for the STI, and thinks it's the ugliest of the 3 cars I've owned since I've known her (350Z, Speed6 & STI). It's a sad world :( But man, this car is by far the fastest & most fun to drive :D

My wife thought I'd lost it when I told her I was getting rid of my Saab. When she saw my 5, she understood. She's happier now, becuase I have time for her and the kids. My engine hoist isn't getting any attention now though. LOL

Sure, the WRX/STi are fast cars......there's just too damn many around. Go to Bandimere on any Wednesday this summer and you'll soon see it's just a faster, nicer version of a Honduh. I swear if I hear another damn fart can........bam right in the kisser!

Friend of mine in Wichita just ordered a new STi (the goofy looking hatchback). He'll be getting rid of his Mazdaspeed6 when it shows up. He's going to autox the crap out of it in SCCA's STU class.

There are quite a few of them around, I won't deny that.... well, at least in Colorado... when I owned my WRX, I was in Texas stationed at Ft Hood, and in Texas, WRX/STI's were pretty rare. It was odd coming back to Colorado and seeing so many of them... in Texas, everyone and their brother had a Mustang or TransMaroBird. RWD cars seemed far more predominate there, directly on account of the lack of snow.

A WRX/STI just happens to be an ideal car for someone living in Colorado... it snows here, they have one of the best AWD systems available... the high altitude robs power from cars, the fact they come from the factory turbo'd diminishes the altitude losses, typically only seeing about half the power loss up here as an NA car would see.... you also get a lot of bang for your buck (well, you used to, the new STI is getting pricey), 4 doors and a usable trunk. The AWD system is also designed to be a true FULL-TIME, applying consistent power to all 4 wheels during driving (41/59 power distribution for STI IIRC, 50/50 for WRX) unlike most AWD systems which are more or less just modified FWD systems, applying 100% power to the front wheels during normal driving, and applying power to the rear wheels only when slippage is occurring... this is actually noticeable while driving in the snow.

Slap on an affordable price & large aftermarket, and all of the sudden, you have an ideal vehicle for an enthusiast who needs a daily driver that hauls ass in the state of Colorado. RWD cars are fun, but I wouldn't have wanted to drive one to work in last year's winter... FWD cars are practical, but honestly, on equal tires, in the snow, AWD>FWD, FWD cars also have a problem putting power down as you up the power, they're more prone to understeering, wheel hop, torque steer ect. For someone looking for a car that's sporty, fairly economical (not completely horrible lol), affordable, AWD & reliable, the WRX makes the perfect car. Not just for "ricers", but for average guys who like those types of cars... which is why they're so popular here.

I both agree and disagree with you... I see a lot of WRX's around, but the majority of the ones I see are still stock, with non-ricers driving them... unfortunately though, because they're getting older, and more affordable, a lot of former Honda guys (ricers) are now able to afford them, and those just happen to be the ones that stick out the most :( Although, personally, I think the WRX/STI with an aftermarket exhaust is the best sounded 4 cylinder on the market, far from your typical "fart can" sounding Honda, I'm a huge fan of the low boxer-burble. I will admit though, that it does make me sad to see ricers invading the WRX community, whereas it was more of an underground "Subaru thing" 4 years ago when I bought my first WRX, the Subie community was more tight knit, and vastly knowledgeable. Some of the ignorance that has seeped into the Subie community, disgusts me, and is why I'm hanging out over here, instead of a Subie board, some of which seem to be dominated with loud-mouth former Civic w/fart can driving idiots (no offense to anyone who used to own one lol).

Faster than a Honda? Sure, at this altitude. Nicer though? I don't think I would go that far lol. The wife and I test drove a new Civic Si (it was slow as hell up here), and while it wasn't as fast as a WRX, it was damn sure nicer lol. I'm a really big fan of Honda's interiors these days... just not a fan of NA FWD 4-bangers with no torque lol. [/rant]

Maybe for an affordable car. I've passed a few various Ferraris on the road where I had to turn off the stereo, roll down the windows, and just dream...Can't say I've done that when a Subaru has passed me by.

Funny comment about women and Subarus. An ex-gf has won (although it was given to her) and another friend of mine bought a loaded Legacy. I think those are pretty nice cars as well.

Ever? :6f1d77c8: In whose lifetime? Note that I'm NOT writing this from a canyon. :7d3bf976:

I think my '67 Cougar with a 390 and dual exhaust might have had just a tad better sound. Granted, it was no 4-banger...
