OK so I am purchasing the simple regular body kit from Mazda for my 8. Not the MazdaSpeed kit, just the simple extensions available for most cars off the lot. Now I seriously love my car but unfortunately I am not much of a gear head and wondered if anyone here could help me with installing the kit. I have never drilled into a car before and the idea kind of freaks me out a little. I am probably a month away from install, with the weather being as fugly as it has been lately, but if there is someone who could help out I would appreciate it.
I installed the side skirts and front lip on my car. That first time you take a drill bit to your car is quite the feeling! If you can track down some good instructions, I can help you with it.

Are you getting them painted or are they coming painted? If you have to get them painted, I recommend that they take a "chip sample" from your car to match the paint. Simply mixing the paint to your paint code will only get them into the ballpark. When my side skirts and lip got painted, they didn't take a chip sample and in the right lighting, you can tell.

It's probably similar to the Protege template. Basically you cut out the template (little strips of paper) and tape them into place on your car. Then you mark them, drill a pilot hole and then drill the full sized hole, debur, use some touch-up paint around the hole to protect the exposed metal and install the body kit pieces. Pretty easy really. You just have to take your time to make sure everything is correct before you break out the drill.
