I 100% agree with you. IMO Ed won't even notice. When you go down there say that you were talking to Angelo and it sounded like the same issue I had. He only know 1 Angleo so he shouldn't get me confussed with anyone else. say it sounds the same and to look up what they did to fix my car.

Couldn't hurt.

I just heard back...they're overnighting in a new slave cylinder, so the TSB referenced earlier is what they're addressing first. Hopefully, it's the cause of the problem. I don't care what's causing it, I just want it fixed!

Replaced the slave cylinder, and the problem remains (kinda expected that). Apparently, the techs at Burt do not have training on transmissions, so I've been referred to Gateway. So, I'm dropping the car off at Gateway tomorrow morning to get the tranny looked at. The parking brake handle, sun visor were replaced today though. And I picked up the free floor mats! Woo!

And the dreaded "No issues found" returns. Sigh. Maybe I'm just imagining the whole thing. On a side note, they are reflashing the car! Haha...glad I'll have the AP back next week. With the tranny...I give up, I'll just wait until it explodes somewhere inconvenient.

Did you tell them to go sit in a new one and see how it feels? That completely sucks. Don't forget to save the new stock ECU setting before flashing again.

They said it was "hot spots on the clutch". Oh well, I'm done thinking about it until it breaks. Strange that the only problem is the 1-2 shift, and a clunk in 3rd. Not quite sure how that is clutch related.

I was too embarrassed to post my 1/4 time, since I can't shift into 2nd on the track. I'd have to do the 1-2 at 4500RPM.

I think there are a couple of lurking 5s, hiding somewhere.

What was your time with your miss shifts. The one posted up is mine. Wouldn't go into second for nothing until the car started to loose speed. You can P.M. it to me if you want. They wouldn't post my 16.3 time because I didn't have the slip to prove it but I do have video proof of 16.5.

And I just jacked this thread. Sorry :(.

I don't know about any other 5's, but I know between 5500 and 6000 RPM 2nd is a bitch to shift to. But I don't know about any other 5's.

I moved our lovely 2nd gear issues to this thread. If any other 8 owners (more than likely most) are having this issue, feel free to post up. I ordered the Mazsport clutch bracket support, and I'm doing a fluid swap/clutch line replacement this weekend. I know this topic pops up in a lot of other various threads, so let's try to keep tracking the issue in this one. I think Buffalo is the only one that's been successful getting his transmission fixed (replaced).

As far as my time with the missed shifts, I only ran 3 times, and didn't keep my slips. All 3 times were consistently around 17.2. (Also the first time I've been on a track).

Today, in the sweltering heat, I decided to try and tackle a little of this. I swapped the tranny fluid out with some RP MaxGear 75w90, also swapped the stock shifter back into the car, to see if for some odd reason the short shifter could be any form of culprit. Granted, I didn't think any of this would actually resolve the problem. And the answer is...

Nope. Still grinds like a bitch going into 2nd gear at anything above 5k. Only 2nd gear, shifting into 3rd and 4th is just fine. Strange rowing through the gears with the stock shifter, the difference in throw is pretty significant. I will say the stock shifter has the RP shifter beat hands down when it comes to "smoothness". Overall, the end result is I have to set up another appointment to get the tranny looked at. I'm assuming Burt still has no trained tranny people, so I think I'll try my luck with Sil-Terhar. I'll have to take someone in the car with me again so they can also verify (like I did with Burt) that they actually can witness the issue. If I strike out at this dealer, I'll just have to call Mazda NA. This ISN'T normal and I want it fixed.
