I think I will just stick with the tried and true, pedal to the metal mentality.

I don't need to spend $300 for what is basically a stronger and faster foot. I'll just go to the gym and do some calf raises really fast and get the same effect. Or at least that is what it sounds like I should do after reading the white paper. Thanks Tom.

lol, you OBVIOUSLY wont get the same effect, otherwise the reviews for it wouldnt be so good...HELLO

Skeptical or not, the whole point of the product, and most aftermarkets parts is seat of the pants feel.... for the money, from what EVERYBODY who has it has said the same thing..they were all skeptical at first, but they are all happy with it now... more and more positive reviews keep trickling in, and more and more people are giving into the $300 price, and all of them are reviewing high...

Im not saying I didnt or dont think the same thing that you think....but thats why I post it here, if anybody has been following this thread on 6club, you'd almost HAVE to be somewhat of an interest or curiosity in the product.... maybe thats just me

If I were to add this, it would probably be one of the last things on my list. But, my car doesn't use it, so it's a moot point.

I kinda have to say IDK about this. IMO it sounds like you'd get to wide open throttle before 'you' reach wide open throttle. Once you get to WOT you can't go anymore. To me it seems that to get WOT you'd only have to press the pedal so far instead of all the way. If that makes sense.

But yet again I havn't read the thread on 6Club. This is just what I'm thinking at the moment.

Well, I read through quite a few technical papers on this on a Mercades site and I think I might know how they are doing this. Now bare with me, I do not know what "voltage" the ecu is measuring from the pedal, but it seems the voltage is 0-5vdc on the Mercades. Anyways, If this voltage is the same on the Speed6 and the Mercades then the only way the throttle can be more responsive is the "Speed Booster" is a tighter tolerance resistor than what comes stock. For example, if the source power is 4-20mA, you need to put in a 250ohm resistor to achive a 0-5vdc voltage measurement. Now resistors are not made equal, you can purchase a wide range of resistors based on the percentage of error. The throttle probably has a 1-2% error stock where as the "Speed Booster" has possibly 0.5-0.1% error. This would greatly increase the response or "sensitivity".
We mess with resistors all the time at work, and you would be amazed how much difference there is in quality and percision of resistors. If this is the case, you could buy a good resistor for just a few bucks.

Just a thought. It probably works. But for $250? I think I would look at something else.

Thread jack: Hey Chris!

OT: I don't think i would personally spend $250 for something like that. I would be happier putting that toward an Accessport.

So... $300 for better throttle response.... now here's the main issue I see with that, if this "mod" is not variable, it basically acts like a resistor adding 30% extra throttle to the ECU, now here's the question that would be on my mind: How is this mod affecting fuel economy? To some people, that doesn't matter, but to someone like me, who drives their car daily, a noticeable drop in fuel economy due to the ECU constantly seeing a "more depressed" throttle position would definitely be a drawback.

Just a thought.

This is why I like carbs. adjusting the throttle response is free to a point. Move a few nuts, spend some time.
