so im thinking about buying the vis crbon fiber hood before i go home on leave in june, im reading some bad stuff on mazda3forums about vis so i am also looking into fiber images. but my question is about mounting it, do cf hoods usually come with places to mnount the hinges and locking mech on there? the vis one says hood pins are required but iv seen it mounted with none (using stock mount) maybe it gets riveted on?

The only ones i've seen have hood pins. I dont know about mounting up with stock hood latch. Im sure somewhere along the lines it can be modified to fit the hood.

I had a Seibon on my Evo 8 and own a Seibon hood currently on my Z. Can't tell you good or bad about VIS. However all hoods "should" be predrilled for direct replacement. Also something to consider are hood pins. Now I never had a problem with my Evo hood and didn't have a chance to mount my Z hood before I left. But I'm really considering investing in these; http://intensepower.com/aehopinlasy.html.

Flush mounts are nice. I have Vis and most of my friends have Vis. They will fade and crack eventually all of ours did. I had mine recleared last summer and its starting to fade again a lil. Fitment is ok and three out of the four of us use hood pins. The other guy has not had an issue yet but its a risk I wasn't willing to take. I have heard good things about seibon and xelerated concepts I think is the other company that had good reports about there carbonfiber parts.

From most pics and sites I've seen is that most hoods come with hood latches already in place. I would consider hood pins though as cheap insurance. If you don't like pins mebe spraying them black will help hide them a little. Heard nothing but good things about Seibon. That's who I'm buyin from when I get a my CF hood....but who knows when that'll be.
