I took all the chrome off but still had problems with the edges. The trick was a good primer with 2-4 really light coats. Same with the actual paint. Light coats.

Edit: All the chrome off the edges.....not the whole 8. After sitting around for a year still looks great.

i sanded it clean lol, but i couldnt get all the chrome off... im gonna do a light sand then isopropyl before i clear coat iti let it air dry i dont have a oven

they make a paint and crome away that they sell at Autozone that will strip the emblems to the plastic and then all you got to do it paint them. I think i have a bottle in the shed i will look later a get the name of it for you

For high impact areas i always use ceramic paint like caliper paint. The ceramic helps it take a beating a lil better. Thats what i used on my door panels

looks good on the back but imo it doesnt look gr8 on the front. i maybe would have painted the chrome trim but kept the front emblem chrome.

the front doesnt look that good ... i bought the open grill just gotta get it painted and put it on when i get home.

I guess I'll post this in here, since there's already discussion about emblems.

Here's a couple pics of the "evil M" on my MP3.

You'll also notice that my driver's headlight is significantly clearer than the pass side. That's from using Mother's wheel wax to remove the oxidation. And in the second pic, that's a before/after HID pic.
