speed 3, chip myth?

Ok, here's the story; My dad was back home in Florida and he ran into some guys who raced mazdas (Miatas i think). They were sponsored by mazdaspeed. Anyway, my dad told them that I was getting an 07 speed 3 and one of the guys mentioned that I could gain +50 hp by getting a Mazda mechanic to remove a chip from the computer.

I'm really new to the inner workings of a car but this sounds too good/easy to be true. Does this sound true to anyone or was this guy just pulling my dad's leg?

Eh I really doubt it I'd love to know what this specific chip is if not the ECU itself :)

Tell them they gotta stop confusing Forza or Gran Turismo with Real Life.

Being "sponsored" by Mazdaspeed isn't as hard or as prestigeous as it sounds. If you own a Mazda and compete in sanctioned race events (autox, road racing) and submit some results to them, you too can be sponsored by Mazdaspeed.

It's the chip that limits boost. Remove the chip and the turbo will spool at 24psi.
