So let's say I'm Best Buy. I have one CD remaining and you are first in line. You tell me that you want to buy it, but not right now- you're going to Mexico first. The guy behind you has money in hand. What's Best Buy going to do? Work with you and let you modify your initial negotiation? No.

I'm sure you've seen the letter "obo" in sales before. OBO stands for "or best offer". And it wasn't stated in this post, it should be assumed. You presented an offer that required additional storage time on behalf of the seller- something the seller wasn't too high on. Someone else says I've got money in hand, I'll take them now. This offer is much more attractive to the seller and is therefore his "or BEST offer". Shoulda brought your A game to the table first on such a good deal on tires like this.

Maybe while you are in Mexico, you can practice your bartering skills with the locals.

Remember to not drink the water while you're down there.

Mazda Tom - Point taken. I work for Best buy lol, I understand your point. Of course a company is going to take whoever has the money first. Friends, club members, confidants, etc etc etc should make exceptions if at all possible. In other words use your best judgment and treat others like you would want to be treated. Billman was going to buy the tires.

Now on the other hand, its rude of him / billman to expect someone to hold the tires for them if thats not what they are willing to do in the first place. Look at it from all sides. Billman should have PM'd Gmoney and paypaled the money and gone from there or atleast put a deposit on them if he was interested. All in all this could have been handled a lot better with more communication on both sides. This resulted in Billman feeling 'jipped' and offended. Something that this club shouldn't stand for.

My new user name is Roadrnr09 and showcases my new 09 Subaru WRX which I am very happy to have purchased as a replacement vehicle : )

Ok Tom, lets use your fucked up straw man scenario...

Beyond the fact that there is a thing called "lay-away"... If I were in line and said something absurd to the cashier like that, I am sure their response would be something like "it's now or never buddy". Not push me out of line and hand that CD to the guy behind without so much as opportunity to reach for my wallet and make the transaction happen on their terms.

It wasn't OBO, dude... It was $250 straight up. There is no assuming. He wanted them out of his garage, I was hoping he'd work with my schedule. He didn't want to. Instead of saying that and offering me the chance to work with his schedule, I was deemed no longer worthy of this transaction. While I should have said something in my post about finding another way to get them before 2 weeks if that didn't work, I feel there should have been more of a opportunity for me to offer that if it didn't work for him. But that courtsey wasn't extended. If you are correct about your OBO assumtion, then why am I incorrect to assume that I would have the opportunity to meet his timeframe if he didn't like what I had proposed even if I didn't state it?

So... you are equating a "helpin' a brother out" sale to a Mexican street sale...Nice. Don't worry about me drinking the water... But I'll bring back some just for you. Think of me when you are downing that glass of water in the restaurant. While I am gone, work on your debating skills.

I am done here.

This is the last post I will write on this subject. I hope a Mod will remove it, as it has no merit to the club. Plus I am tired of seeing it.

This whole thing started out as me trying to help out a fellow member with a tire issue. So I thought selling my stockers for cheap to him would be just that. I offered my tires up and he wanted pics. Now the tires were in Fort Collins in my Storage Unit, so I drove up and got them. This was not because I was going to make out on this deal, I am pretty much giving these away. He never got back to me, and now the tires were in the way. Decided a FS thread would help get rid of them.

Now I posted it and all hell breaks loose. Bill was the first to post a reply. Now in that he stated a circumstance that went along with his offer. If it was the only reply I would have had no choice but to work with him. But there were two more. So I moved to the next offer because there were no hold ups. Now in his post he gave me the choice to take it or not (If you can wait until then, I'll gladly take'm off your hands.) Now I don't know Bill, did not know he lived in GJ. Now he stated he could get them Nov. 3rd or 4th, me being out of town put him coming Nov. 14th or 15th. That is 3 weeks away. I was pretty clear I wanted them gone asap in my first post. He did not mention he would work with the dates, so why would I take his offer if I had two more with no circumstances. His offer was clear as day. Why would I hold them if they could be gone that day or the next, just like I wanted. I turned down his offer because I saw this being more of a pain then I wanted. I am the seller I have the right to turn offers down if it does not work for me. Why is this even a issue. Yeah it sucks for him, but he was the one that put it on the table and gave me the option to take it. Post #8 should have been in his first post if he wanted me to consider that option before I had already made up my mind. I can't read minds.....Him getting upset at me is utterly ridiculous. I took my best option. Why would I have to communicate, if he gave me the option not to go with him. My mind was already made up before he started posting all this negative crap. All his arguments are based on things that occurred after the decision was made. He feels like I pushed him aside, I just did not entertain his offer because of the stipulation he stated. Whats to argue.

I tried to send him my apologies, only for him to throw more shit in my face.

I am truly sorry that you feel this way Bill. If I could go back and do it over again with the info you gave me in post #8, I of course would have hit you back. But with your first post I don't feel I did anything wrong. I made my decision with the info I had been given.

I hope you don't hold this against me forever, and if we meet you won't come swinging. As I hope we can put this all behind us.
